B&B Carella

Location right at downtown with all the shopping streets, restaurants, important sites, etc. Airport shuttle passes close to the hotel. Staff is very helpful and friendly, and kudos to them. There are very few plug points for charging, no universal plug points. My room didn't have a standing shower, which was very annoying as the water spilled all over the place.

The Affittacamere B & B Carella is located in the heart of Palermo. We rode a dedicated bus line from the airport to a stop about 400m from the accommodation. The walk was flat. It is surrounded by an adequate amount of restaurants of various sizes. It is basically located across the street from the best restaurant in which we ate. To the north you will find the port a 20 minute walk from the accommodation. Lots of opportunities for day boat trips at the port we walked there and back with no problems. To the south about 10 minutes walking are museums and churches to explore. There is an easily accessible ATM to the west about 5 minutes away. There all the tourist type shops nearby as well. The room was larger than I expected. The television is internet ready for any streaming you may want to do. It had a little area to hang up clothes. The bathroom was strangely set up with the sink being on a corner with mirrors on the walls at angles. Weird to shave when looking at angles instead of straight on. The shower was small, but I have been in much smaller in Europe. The breakfast was very well done with many choices with a person there to make coffee. I think they also provided gluten free options for on guest. The staff was very helpful and non-intrusive. The wifi could be spotty at times. We felt the bed was a little on the firm side. The accommodation also had my biggest pet peeve: one size of pillow for the bed. I think every accommodation should have two differently sized pillows to help guests. The pillows at this accommodation are thin. I tried to use one of the decorative bed pillows instead, but they weren’t any better.

The property is historic and beautiful. Location is great within walking distance to the major attractions. Breakfast was included and was delicious everyday. The staff were wonderful and helpful. We had a great stay and highly recommend.

Good location, very clean, great breakfast! Very good organization. Very, very loud. The way the room is set up makes it impossible to sleep. It’s not city noise, it’s the fact that the window doesn’t open to outside but basically into the hallway. You can hear every person coming home at night, neighbor’s TVs…

Amazing location, very close to the center Parking was a challenge. Could have used some guidance in advance of the location of recommended parking garages.

The location and the style. The room has a jacuzzi, which is a nice touch, but it was difficult to take a shower without getting the entire bathroom wet. A shower curtain would be helpful.

If you’re on the larger side, the twin bed might be too small for you.

The location is excellent for walking in the historic district. The breakfast was excellent with wonderful cappuccino and croissants. The woman preparing it was kind and friendly. The room was very clean. The loft portion of the room was hot at night. The air conditioner did not cool the upstairs. A small fan would be helpful.

Great facilities and close to many sites! Wonderful and kind staff, especially Rosella, who managed our check-in and the breakfasts the days we were there. She gave us many great recommendations of sites to visit. We loved the cannolo from the church Santa Caterina - yum! Many thanks to Rosella! The breakfast offered good but simple. The room was super! Loved how spacious it was. We especially appreciated the AC! The location wasn't as accessible by train so we mostly took buses to get around which worked out just fine.

There was no staff to let us in. We went in when someone left. We had not idea where to find our room. I called a spoke to a man that didn't speak English, we had to find somebody in the building to translated for us. It was a bad check-in experience. Parking was a pain in the butt.

Parking is awful to find. The property claims having a parking garage near by, which does not seem easy to find. Parking there requires to leave a key and doesn’t look safe at all to leave a rental car there. To find a free parking is impossible. We were lucky to find a paid parking spot one night. There is a port parking about 15 min walk that you have more chances to park. Breakfast - if you are sweet pastries lover, you will enjoy it. But if you don’t eat sweet, you will have a yogurt. The cheese and ham is not what you would expect in Sicily where there are plenty of great cheeses and meat products. No eggs, no vegetables. Again, plenty of sweet choices. Smell… heavy smoke smell inside of the building from one of the apartments. The owner of the B&B cannot do anything with it because it’s not their property. Just making a note of it. Overall, it’s not 9.2 rating that you would expect

The staff went out of the way to help us up the stairs to our apartments, they were very friendly accommodating. He stated in the description that it was the first floor, and it was the third floor due to all the steps
