Stylish, not as small as we expected and great location on Canal St Martin My only issue was noise, but they provided ear plugs and it was a particularly busy time while we were there

The staff were really helpful and friendly. The croissants which are sourced from a local bakery, were amongst the best we have had before! The location was excellent. We knew the area well and wanted to stay right in the heart of Canal St Martin. A small and friendly, charming hotel! Thank you The air con was hit and miss but I assume this was due to the heatwave impacting it. We only really suffered as a result of the heat on one of the days - you don’t always get air con in Paris so hardly a complaint!

Location only Very disappointing experience — misleading photos and unacceptable handling of a serious problem Unfortunately, our stay at this hotel was a very disappointing experience. First, the photos on the hotel’s website are quite misleading. They make the property look considerably better than it actually is. The reality was noticeably different from what was presented online. However, the most serious issue was the lack of air conditioning during an extreme heatwave in Paris. We were visiting during the peak of summer, at a time when temperatures were exceptionally high and heatwaves were even posing health risks. We specifically chose and booked this hotel because the room was advertised as having air conditioning, and our reservation was for three nights. When we arrived, the air conditioning in our room was not working. What was particularly unacceptable was that the hotel staff were already aware of the problem but had not informed us before our arrival. We were simply told that a technician had been scheduled to come the following week. They also told us that there was no other room available that night, although they could move us to another room for the following two nights. This was not a reasonable solution, as it was simply impossible to spend the first night in a room without air conditioning given the extreme temperatures. For this reason, we had no choice but to cancel our stay. We collected our luggage and informed the hotel that we were checking out. Despite the fact that the room did not have the essential amenity we had specifically booked and that the hotel already knew about the problem before our arrival, they refused to refund us any portion of our payment. In my opinion, this was not only a disappointing stay but also a serious failure in customer service and transparency.

The location next to the canal and local bars was great. The air conditioning and comfortable were very welcome at the end of a busy day. While it was nice to have breakfast to the room, the set up was unusual and our order some times arrived up to 20 minutes after our order time. Tiling in the shower was loose in places and therefore uncomfortable under foot.

Beautiful location outside Canal St Martin and friendly staff.

The staff was friendly and helpful, morning americanos were great, and we loved the location. Very clean rooms with huge windows.

The location was nice and there were big windows that made the space bright. The fire alarm went off 5 different times, the ac had to be rebooted by staff every time the alarm went off, the internet only worked if we stood by the room door but never worked near the bed, and staff seemed nice but told me they’d look into the internet everyday without ever giving me an update.

Great location. We had a suite which was perfect. Went into one of the cosy rooms, they were extremely cosy. Staff were really helpful. Cute coffee shop and pizza restaurant in the hotel. V small, only two rooms each floor. Fascinating watching the canal lock in action. Loads of restaurants and shops on doorstep. Our key didn't work, had to ask reception every time we wanted to go into the room. Breakfast a bit meh.

Le Citizen is very cozy, small as charming hotel! The staff on site are extremely hospitable and friendly. We loved the location and the attached cafe and Mike’s pizza to the property. As a New Yorker, they nailed the flavor and quality of NYC slice. The bathrooms were fine but made need some minor updating to the shower and tiles. When we showered, water would seep out onto the floor.

The location and design Had some water leaking onto the ground from the shower

Lovely staff, comfortable rooms, lovely sheets, good facilities, lovely breakfast, great coffee hatch at property and pizza-slice place. Great location

The staff at Le Citizen were extremely friendly and helpful. We were very impressed by them. The Quai de Jemmapes is an attractive and lively area, hugely popular with young people, but the double glazing was effective in keeping the noise down. We had a great view over one of the locks on the canal. It was an easy walk to various Metro stations, and into the beautiful Marais district. It was all good. Nothing to dislike.
