The location and staff are excellent they are just working with what they got. 5 minute walk to beach amazing restarants literally 1 min to 7 minute walk tops to great dining. The staff was very helpful with me and my few guest. The location and staff are excellent, but going to be honest had a few visitors come visit they all complained about the tkilets not flushing, small non working tv, smelly water wires everywhere and a few ventured into the kitchen and seen roaches. I got sick Monday the day i checked in decided i would change my hotels Thursday this morning (Friday) i feel 90% in 14 hours, im 1 mile away further from the beach yes but more healhier atmosphere i feel i would have gotten worse.

Fantastic location in the center of old town Puerto Plata. The staff are very friendly and helpful, even allowing us to leave our bags at the front desk until the afternoon when we checked out. Free coffee available at all times. The A/C was confusing to turn on and the bathroom only had an old used soap bar to wash hands and bath with. We had to go to the supermarket to buy soap

Complimentary coffee was provided. I was also included in a staff lunch which was very nice. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The location was walkable to the beach and many attractions.

Exceptional

The place has a soul, great ambiance, is life 24/7. The location is fantastic, the owner and people that work there are wonderful, right next to my favorite Parque Central, close to Malecon and with options to buy a breakfast.

Only has street parking so that can be tricky at time. Water pressure is not good but this is typical for Dominican Republic. Not a place for people traveling with children bu if you're solo or with adult friends and enjoy "staying native" it's a smart and economical place to stay. I used to live in Puerto Plata for 3 years. If you're looking for a luxury resort type of setting you will not be happy in this hotel. It's more like a Motel 6 for an American comparison.

English-spanish required a bit using translator, but without problems. Roof top pool/jacuzzi was nice. Rooms had a bit variation between the views and interior properties, but the available rooms were shown to us first and we were able to choose which we wanted and we paid after that.

Staff tried to be helpful and showed us the room before we committed to staying. Proprietor helped us find a person who spoke some English to help answer questions. Hotel was close to the main square and Taino Bay cruise port. There are several bars and restaurants around the square. Only Spanish and French spoken by staff. No hot water in our room. Bare light bulb hangs from ceiling. There was no screen on bathroom window and one louvre was missing--the window was just covered by a curtain. Other guests using the pool table in the common area were VERY LOUD and inconsiderate until 2am.
