The bathroom had a bad odor, the door had no latch so door have to be locked every time you go in or out. While it is "beach front" the beach directly in front of the hotel is very rocky, so you have to walk down to get to a sandy beach.

Easy access to the beach and restaurants Water pressure for shower and toilets. Manager was apologetic and addressed as best he could. It was adequate certain times of the day but not at end of day typically or mid morning.

Manager was very helpful. Location was amazing, close to everything we were wanting for a vacation.Walking distance to beach, restaurants and shops. Step out the back door to an ocean view, gardens and even howler monkeys in the trees.

Room definitely needed to be better cleaned, especially the bathroom where there was a lot of hair left behind and even the taps hadn't been wiped. My cabin had a beach-facing porch - unfortunately there was no way to CLOSE the door from that side, so to access that porch (and close the door to keep mosquitos out) I had to walk around the property, which meant my room was beach-facing but not beach accessible. I asked the staff about this and they were unapologetic and could not have cared less.

Evrything was ready, staff friendly and willing to help. The room was ready and easy to communicate with them Front desk at 8. I had to arrange how to drop the key and leave because it was a little bit complicated how to drop the key and lock the door when I left.

Since the hotel is right in town, it's quite loud. Definitely not a place for light sleepers. I needed to use ear plugs on the weekend as the sound from the neighboring beach club was very loud.

  • Engine customer Dec 2025

As many other reviews mentioned, the building is not insulated well, so you can hear everything outside your room. I had people above me and could hear them very well. The hotel is also on a busy street, which can become an issue for light sleepers.

    The view

The room was a little outdated

  • Engine customer Nov 2025

The rooms are much smaller then the pictures but it was clean and safe and we were close to everything so we could just walk around town. The plumbing was not great but got the job done. Not a fancy place but a great value

perfect location, on beach, beautiful garden (we had a sloth in the garden), closed to town center. private parking included (but limited). community area to make coffee and have breakfast (not included). very uncomfortable beds, old mattresses, toilett didn't work correctly, wouldn't flush, only after 3 flushes cleared up. faucet loose, sink was not fixed and was moving around.

We stayed 2 nights in 2 different rooms - double with sea view and disability access room - what was available for our dates. Rooms are clean, with fine beds, proper bathrooms, hot water, safe boxes. Fridges in rooms and beach towels at the reception are very appreciated. The photos on booking.com are accurate, some of outdoor furniture has been upgraded. There is also a shared terrace with a little kitchen - microwave, tools and dishes, coffee pot, several tables with the sea view - nice and convenient. Double Room-Disability Access is right behind the kitchen terrace, so I'd say it has a limited sea view via the kitchen. This room is bigger than a double room with the sea view. It has it's own outdoor seating area, too. All in all we liked it better. The hotel crew is very kind and helpful. The hotel was quiet, the main activity happened in the morning at the coffee pot. The sea view is great but as you can see on the photos that outdoor areas are not private - people pass there. The beach is not good for swimming cause of the rocks. For the beach I recommend to walk further or take a 10-min taxi / Uber to Punta Uva beach. In our room No 9 a mosquito net was broken in the bathroom - it was a disaster with mosquitos in the night. Wifi is spotty yet works fine in the kitchen / close to the reception.

Loved the garden/sea view. We got to see sloths 3 days in a row (once there was one on the top of the kitchenet cupboard. The bathroom facilities were very good as was the services to the room. The staff were the very best part of Yucca... fabulous! The location is the very best. in the hub of things but outside the noise factor. Very much in need of a change of matrice which had seen better days. The pillows were also too high (but that may just be that we like a flat pillow). Other than that I would definitely recommend the hotel.

We stayed in 2 different rooms at this hotel because we liked it so much we extended our stay. Both rooms were amazing, very clean, very comfortable, large, with great bathrooms. One room opened up onto the seafront with its own hammock outside the door, the other opened out to a covered area with small kitchen and tables. Both rooms were quiet and peaceful with beds with good mattresses. The staff were kind and helpful. Opposite the hotel was the best cafe/bistro in the town where we enjoyed brilliant breakfasts. The location was perfect. There was nothing we didn't like!

Disappointed Stay – Great Location, But Not Much Else We recently stayed here hoping for a cozy holiday hideout in Puerto Viejo, but unfortunately, it fell short in several important ways. Let’s start with the positive: the location is absolutely amazing — close to the beach and all the local hotspots. But sadly, that’s where the highlights end. The room itself felt bland, not very tidy, and lacked any sense of comfort or warmth. If you’re looking for a charming, relaxing place to unwind, this might not be it. One of the biggest downsides was the constant presence of mosquitoes in the room — and while Costa Rica does promise incredible wildlife experiences, I didn’t expect to get one inside our bedroom. Not exactly the kind of close encounter we were hoping for. The bathroom needs some serious maintenance: the toilet flush often didn’t work, and the shower water pressure was so low it could barely be called a shower — more of a light drizzle, really. We found ourselves avoiding the room as much as possible — taking turns at a nearby bar while the other used the bathroom. Not exactly the relaxing couple’s trip we imagined. On top of that, the bed was uncomfortable, and I left with a sore back after just one night. That said, the staff was friendly and polite, which we appreciated. Overall, I think the place is overpriced for what it offers — there are much better value-for-money options in Puerto Viejo that offer comfort along with charm.

Right on the water. Best spot in all of puerto! So peaceful out back and restaurants just 30 second walk to the right. You have to go to the bakery too if you’re staying here. Best coffee and breakfast, hands down.
