I felt very welcome in this hostel, everyone was so nice and it was very easy to make friends. The staff was very helpful, Hugo, Gabi (pink), Priscilla, Iza and Daniel were particularly amazing. The location is good, walking distance to Copacabana beach. Room for improvement: consider adding a little tiny shelf at the level of each bunk bed to make it more practical to place a phone or glasses (in my case haha).

The vibes of the hostel were great, easy to socialize in the common areas and the bar was nice. Gabby Pink and Caio at check in were very friendly and helped a lot with recommendations. Will stay again next time I’m in Rio No mirrors in the bathroom had to put contacts in with my camera

The workers were very nice. Both Gabby’s and a gentleman whose name I can’t recall, but told me a story about an Australian guy. I had trouble with my room and they very kindly moved me. The location is ok. It felt safe and secure. The lunch I had at the hostel was good and a fair price. The beds are so wobbly. Every time I moved on the top bunk I worried the bed would tip over. Also, my first room was very loud, so I moved to a different room. You have to make your own bed and after moving to a new room at 1 am i ended up not being able to make my bed because it would have awoken others with how wobbly the bed is. The roommates in my second room were very inconsiderate and my sleep quality suffered for it. It is mediocre in terms of socialness, but the night life perhaps is where it’s at (I didn’t partake).

I stayed at Bamboo Hotel and overall the location was one of the better parts of the experience. The area was convenient and centrally located, which made it easier to get around and access nearby stores, restaurants, and attractions. I definitely appreciated how close everything was and felt the location was a strong point of the stay. While the hotel’s location was convenient and centrally located, my overall experience was mixed due to issues with customer service. From the moment I checked in, I felt that I was treated differently compared to other guests. I observed staff members being warm, welcoming, and attentive toward lighter-skinned and white guests, while my interactions felt noticeably colder and less respectful. The differences were subtle but consistent — lack of friendliness, being ignored at times, and overall treatment that came across as dismissive and filled with microaggressions. I raised my concerns with management, and while they did respond by offering a room upgrade and complimentary breakfast, the resolution did not feel entirely genuine. The upgrade still involved additional costs on my end, and the breakfast offering was minimal. More importantly, the behavior and attitude from certain staff members did not significantly improve afterward, which made the stay uncomfortable. Additionally, the first room I stayed in had a strong unpleasant odor, the bed was uncomfortable, and the room did not match the appearance shown online. However, I do want to recognize one employee in particular: Renan Miragaya. After I shared my experience with him on the day I arrived, he treated me with an incredible amount of kindness, professionalism, and respect. He sincerely apologized for what I experienced and assured me he would speak with management, which he did. He expressed that this was not the kind of representation he wanted associated with Brazil or Brazilian culture, and he genuinely wanted me to leave with a positive impression of Brazilian hospitality. Renan went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and welcomed during my stay. He showed true compassion and hospitality, even taking the time to introduce me to local culture by bringing me to the largest stadium in Rio and helping me experience my first football match. His kindness and effort made a meaningful differen

Facilities are awful, no hot water, bad wifi, they ONLY turn on the AC in the room since 10 pm. If you want them to turn it on mid day, you have to pay for it, and the room is super hot. Also another thing I've noticed is that when my reservation was about to end I wanted to extend it a few more days, I went to the reception and asked them to extend it. When they told me the price I've noticed the price they suggested was more expensive than the price in booking, which I find super weird. One last thing, when I was about to leave the hostel, I wondered how the hostel could be with such a good rating but with such bad facilities and old rooms. Then, when I was checking out I was offered a free breakfast if I rare them 10 on booking. I declined the offer and they offered me a discount on my next stay, which also seemed weird because I wasn't offered this discount before when I extended my stay. I asked them how the discount works, they sent me a code for their website, and the code of course didn't work. I didn't stay here more and would suggest you going to an other hostel.
