Incredible staff and awesome atmosphere. Offers amenities such as access to beach chairs, free caipirinhas, and great advice from staff regarding activities. I had the top bunk and it was very close to the ceiling and I kept hitting my head against the sharp edge.

The staff are super friendly and attentive. The location is also great, nearby the beach and a chill and safe neighborhood with a ton of other hostels and hotels around. Also the free 8 to 8:30 Caipirinha in the evening is a nice initiative. The bed sheets and towels had some stains here and there. You could tell they were washed by the good smell but could be cleaner for sure.

The location and the PREVIOUS experience I have had in there The rudeness of almost all staff; The lack of bed sheets; My bed and pillow were wet and smelly and they said that they would fix it while I was out but they didnt.

Location was great and the bed was very comfortable The room wasn’t very clean - hair on the floor and towels had hair on them too. Only stayed one night as a stopover to other accom so was ok for this purpose. There is barely any social area and it is quite cramped. The hostel room has no natural light, just a window onto the hallway so the room feels a bit dark.

The staff was nice and friendly, the beach is just 2 min away In the beginning the bathroom was not cleaned regularly It is super loud as the music from inside the hostel or across the street comes directly to your room There is no common area & no activities planned There are 0 amenities in the room (no curtains, not even a simple board to put your phone at night) You have to rent a blanket in case you want one You can NOT rent a towel (have to buy it) No real warm water for the shower

Che Lagarto Hostel is few steps away from Ipanema and also Leblon beach. The hostel was super fun, clean, the staff was very friendly, kind and on top of duties. I had a great time relaxing by the beach, making friends, going on tours. The location is close to restaurants, bars, public transportation, beaches, etc. I just want to thank the staff for making my staying a memorable one. The beds can be upgraded once in a while.
