Royal Regency Palace Hotel

I needed a technician to come up and fix the TV. Room was small. I barely had room to accommodate our luggage. Shower wasn't hot enough. Front desk person was OK friendly. Breakfast was awesome! Parts of the room were broken.

I was difficult to communicate because 90% of the staff did not speak English. The accommodations were outdated.

Room needed upgrade

Good, nice and clean! Excellent value. It’s not close to the beach but it’s in a lively, authenticité Rio de Janeiro neighbourhood. Close to the métro. A bit oldish but I’d come back!

From the moment of arrival, the team demonstrated professionalism, efficiency, and genuine hospitality. Every member of the staff was courteous, attentive, and consistently willing to assist with any request. Their friendly and welcoming attitude created a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere throughout my stay. The location is concerning. The property is situated in a very old and poorly lit area, which feels unsafe, particularly at night. There were homeless individuals gathered directly outside the entrance, which added to the sense of insecurity and discomfort. While the hotel’s presentation attempts to create a positive first impression, the overall condition of the facilities suggests that the appearance is largely superficial. The swimming pool water was visibly cloudy, and the gym was unclean and poorly maintained. Several areas of the property appear to have been improvised rather than properly designed or renovated, giving the impression of a lack of long-term investment in the infrastructure. The guest room itself also reflected maintenance shortcomings. There were small cockroaches in the bathroom, which is unacceptable in any hospitality setting. The bath and hand soaps provided were of very poor quality. Additionally, the furniture showed clear signs of deterioration — surfaces were peeling, and the desk was unstable and leaning, indicating an urgent need for repair. Overall, the hotel requires significant maintenance and structural improvements to meet basic standards of hygiene, safety, and guest comfort.

Firstly, I stayed in the 7th floor and there was only one of the three elevator that the 7th floor button was working and this same elevator wasn’t working the ground floor button. So if I wanted to go to my room I had to wait and check which one of them would take me to the right floor or take the stairs. The staff were mostly rude and only one attendant was nice.

Unfortunately, I experienced some trouble with the internet service. Additionally, the air conditioner control was not functioning as expected.

The entrance is nice, there are nice facilities and a good breakfast. The price is reasonable. We found small cockroaches around the fridge which seems to be a common problem in Rio but if it is your first time then it does not leave a good impression. They changed our room quickly. The hotel has a good potential but requires more attention to small details and better hygienic cleaning that can make big difference. The location is not the best as there are many homeless at night.
