The hostel promises AC but the AC is only on from 11pm to 5am, this was not told anywhere before booking. We had booked 6-person dorm but we were placed in 8-person dorm, i dont know if this means that they have changed all 6-person dorms to 8-person dorms or they just placed us to the wrong one. The hostel promises outlets next to the bed but there were no outlets next to the bed, only 2 in the whole room for 8 people to share. Also all doors are sliding doors which keept horrible noise when opening and closing making the sleeping difficult in the dorm when people go in and out. The whole hostel including/especially the dorms felt small & growded, it was always very hot and humid and my friend said it smelled like mold. But i must say the location, especially considering the carnivals and sambodrome, is great. Also, if you dont care in what kind of place you stay/sleep the price is good too, but for me the place looked much nicer in the pics than in reality. Hearts for the cleaner guy, he was really nice person?

The hostel is near the Sambadrome, convenient when you want to celebrate carnaval there. Outside the carnaval season it's not the best location in Rio, it's a long walk to the center. The metro station is a 15 minutes walk from the hostel. Victor was very nice and helped me with the Uber and cash money. He was empathetic and showed me around in the hostel. If you're celebrating carnaval and don't count on sleeping in the hostel this is a great hostel for you. If you're not here for the carnaval run fast to another hostel! It's a very basic place with poor hygiene, even for a hostel. The beds are making noise, lockers don't close properly and I heard from another guest she had bed bugs in her bed and was itchy all over her body. Also there seems to be a culture in the hostel to be noisy and inconsiderate about other guests. People talk loud in the room at night, turn the light on, making telephone conversations and play videos out loud. This was apparently more the case in this hostel than others. If you're celebrating carnaval and don't count on sleeping in the hostel this is a great hostel for you. If you're not here for the carnaval run fast to another hostel!

The staff put in a modicum of effort in trying to help me with some issues. My bunk had literally no ladder, which is less than ideal. the vibe was weird, where it felt like I entered a gang den as an outside. No one was friendly, although some staff were alright. Wifi was terrible and no one spoke anything but Portuguese, which is fair in Brazil, but still surprising in Rio. Given all of this, I felt pretty isolated in this cold place in a dangerous neighbourhood. I tried to get a refund, but I didn’t get much help. I was told refunding is “not in their policy” but that the staff would try to see with the manager. I never heard back nor got a refund. I recommend this hostel to no one.
