Red Caboose Motel
About Red Caboose Motel
All aboard! Hop on a caboose car at the Red Caboose Motel for a fun and unique overnight stay. All 38 cabooses (19 of which were once part of the Pennsylvania Railroad) are decorated in the paint schemes of America's most famous railroads. The rooms are divided into 11 general floor plans, each catered to the number of guests for the evening. There's also a baggage car, mail car and a home away from home called the Shady Rest Hotel Farmhouse Efficiency Suite. And the best part is, you never have to leave the property -- it has everything you could possibly need on site. Explore Amish life on an Amish buggy ride, play games at the arcade, pet animals at the zoo. There's also a restaurant on-site, Casey Jones' Restaurant, and for a late-night snack, guests can stop by the take-out ice cream parlor, Janie Jones’.

It was great to be in the middle of an Amish area with a steam train going by and the staff was excellent.

It was neat to stay in a caboose. The property is well maintained. Easy parking and food is good at restaurant. The room is small and bathroom but that was expected it is a caboose. It was interesting experience. Glad I went. Its near toy train and the PA train museum and the railroad. Over all this place is fun to visit.

Although the lodging in the train cars are old; they are well maintained and clean. They are vintage type rooms. They have old air conditioners but they work well as long as you follow the directions that they give you. We had a side door which led out to a elevated patio. It had two rocking chairs on it & we enjoyed sitting outside in the late evening. The beds were comfortable enough.

Beautiful spot! Fun night staying in a train car! Animals and old fashioned train, Amish buggy rides…add to the whole experience. Train cars are clean but older. Bathroom shower a bit rusty but had good water pressure. Great location if you want to go on an Amish Farm Tour!

The beds were nice and comfortable The place was not clean. There were cobwebs that had not been cleaned in a while and when told staff they came in and cleaned one thing and left all the other cobwebs there.
-
The Red Caboose staff was excellent. Our rooms were not as clean as they should be. There was creepy crawlers coming in constantly and one was in my kids bed. It is a unique place however not well maintained.

It was a great experience staying here again. The kids love the unique atmosphere of staying in a caboose.
