Location to station was great - lots of eateries and shops close by. My room smelled like a dirty ashtray, very unpleasant. Everything was clean, but the stale smell was overwhelming.

This was my second stay at a Toyko-Inn in Saitama Preferecture. As a consequence, I felt I haad an idea of what to expect. The staff at reception were warmly welcoming and patient as they helped arriving guests through the check-in process. The room as I expected; compact but with a spacious feel. The breakfast buffet was generous and varied. Free (24 hours) coffee in the same space. The previous time was in Asaka-dai, on the Tobu Line. I was reminded of how diligent and extremely cheerful the staff at breakfast are. As I plan to travel more around in Japan in the coming months, I applied for a Toyoku-Inn loyalty card. I made my application at reception in the evening and at checkout next day the card was ready for me. What to do nearby? There are many small streets with all kinds of restaurants and bars opposite the hotel. (Busy, and yet inaudible from my room). My plan was to visit the excellent Railway Museum. The weather was fine, so I walked the 1.5 km to the Museum and took the "New Shuttle" back to JR Oomiya Station. ("Mission Accomplished!") For those so inclined, I found a "British Style Pub" a couple of blocks from the hotel. Spacious, with "easy listening" music: it was one of the most relaxing of its type that I've visited anywhere in Japan.
