Ocean Suites

If you come to Cape Verde to experience the culture as well, and you don't simply want to be in an encapsulated resort, this is really a great place in a great location in the center of Santa Maria. Breakfast is provided, with a decent selection of choices, there are supermarkets close by, atms, and some nice places to have dinner. The place can arrange the airport transfer for you, which currently is 20 EUR one way (this is the regular charge) The place is a cafe as well, which servers dinner (at 10% discount for people who stay there), but the food is a bit mediocre for the price. I would recommend Palm Beach or Vista Mar restaurants and Giramondo for ice cream and bakery. This is a bit tough, because i don't want to give a bad rating, but i feel that it is nice to warn other people. So there is a party at the cafe every night until midnight or 1am. Coming from east europe, this is not really a party, but some loud music and "forced" entertainment (we joined in once as well and it was funny, I just wanted to manage expectations). I generally sleep with earplugs, so apart from the first night where i was too lazy to take them out from the suitcase, i didn't really have a problem, but you do need one, unless you want to party every night :) (Also the dogs turn into werewolfs every night as well. :) The dinner at the cafe (this is not part of the rating but just an exclaimer), is not really top notch. Probably an italian grandma gets a heart attack every time they serve some of their italian offerings. (we tried the pizza, which was nice, but very "unique", tried the pasta pomodoro, which was very school meal like, and the chicken lasagna which i don't even want to say anything about :D). The octopus was nice and they serve Grogue as well, which you should try out. The worst thing, which you can actually avoid as of now, is the price. You can book a room significantly cheaper if you book with them via their site instead of booking.com. I noticed this there, and of course because their rooms are unique, i couldn't do a price match with booking, because as we were already in the room, that was not available anymore. (but around 50EUR a night difference, which is quite significant.)

The rooms are so charming, with the coolest interior design I have ever seen at a hotel. Spacious too and even ours even had an exercise bike and a spacious balcony with a view toward the square where people were dancing at night. The restaurant/bar downstairs is great too, with music and dancing every night! Location is also great, located where all the action is. The staff was very nice too. Due to the music playing downstairs, if you must go to sleep before midnightt, this place is not for you. The music is so loud that even earplugs won't tune out the noise.

Location is perfect and the staff is amazing. Great vibes. Kitchen was also very good.

Music in Ocean Cafe stops at 00:00, as promised; but on Saturday night there was loud music from the bar down the street, until 2 am at least, when I called police to stop it.

Location was great We had some security issues. The room was entered in the evening whilst we were having dinner. The last night the balcony door was tampered with using force

The decor and concept were outstanding. I couldn’t stop looking at it all. Generous provision of water and coffee. Good welcome, with a welcome drink. Breakfast was fab. I just wish we could have stayed longer. They do warn you about the music from the bar and you do have to be aware of that. Just be aware of music from the bar… or go and join in!

Ocean it's a lovely happy place to stay for a few days in the centre of Santa Maria. And the staff are very lovely and welcoming always have warm friendly smiles.xx? Thank you to the staff during breakfast mainly the guy making my coffee sorry forgot the names. William thnx for teaching me dance Samba and the guy for the cocktails ? they were lovely. The food sometimes it's hit and miss when it's busy .l had a very salty pasta dish which l didn't eat .But one of the guys was so understanding when l told him l was still hungry and made me a sandwich. Which l thought it was a lovely gesture. I had a bit of a misunderstanding with another bottle if wine which was in my room which l had brought from outside and they wanted to charge me for it.But it took a lot of explaining and was later resolved. But l must say all the staff were very lovely. Thank you for making my stay lovely?

Excellent location in Santa Maria, they were very helpful to arrange cab pickup and drop off to the airport. Food, location hospitality were very good. We had a quick night layover before we moved to sao Vincente

Very nice place in good location.. Not traditional hotel room, it was very good and so nice decorated. HOT water in the shower. Thats not common every hotels in Cabo Verde. And staff was so friendly and nice. 10+ Good breakfast. -
