B&B Le Marinelle

The location was perfect, almost in the historical center of the city, where there are many restaurants and shops. Quite close to the railway and bus stations ( Amalfi coast) and half an hour walk to the main port Molo Manfredi. Our apartments was clean. The shared kitchen was equipped with everything we needed. The hosts provided us with information about popular restaurants and the nearest parking. The air conditioning in our room didn't work and it was too hot, but the owners quickly fixed it.

Loved the cafe and the service. The people there were very friendly and kind. The pastries were delicious. Our shower head was not working properly and it would have been nice to have someone greet us upon arrival.

Clean room, hot shower, comfortable bed, coffee and snacks… great breakfast at the local coffee the next morning … close to the Train station, close to the Ferry port! Amlfi and Positano just around the corner ? What else do you need? Salerno I love you ❤️ thank you Le Marinelle

It really was a very comfortable place. Exceptional. Bed was heavenly. Clean. Noisy motorbikes racing round the streets. Even with window shut. Fortunately I had sleeping tablets otherwise I would gave struggled to get any shut eye. It was Saturday night though.

It is self check-in hotel. They sent the password late, literally on the same day we arrive, and because we arrived early we had to wait in front of the door for some time. So make sure the day before you have asked details. Nothing.

The location is good - about 10min walk from Salerno station, however it was very noisy at night. The cleaners come in everyday to make the bed… our towels or bins didn’t get changed. They literally just made the bed. Furniture seemed very cheap as our bed was very creaky. The shower door was loose so it didn’t close properly and could break off the hinge very easily, and finally the hairdryer did not work which was an inconvenience.

Great location close to ferries to continue journey to Amalfi Coast. Host was exceptional on communication in letting us know regarding remote check in and airport transfers. Highly recommend

The majority of the plus points go to the location, very central, just off the main shopping street in Salerno and also close to the ports for if you're going to the other areas of the Amalfi Coast. If you're arriving by car, you're best off loading luggage at Via dei Principati just before the traffic lights, put on your hazard lights while you offload. Do not turn into Corso Vittorio Emanuele as this is a ZTL and you will be fined. We were in the corner room, which was a decent size double room with an additional spare single bed in it. There is AC in the room, however, electricity in your room is activated by the entry card, and you can’t swap it out (it will beep at you and not supply electricity) if you have to stay in when you’re unwell and your partner goes out during the summer… good luck in the heat! There is a "snack tray" inside your room, the snacks are meant to be used for your breakfast, like Nutella, jam, honey and biscuits. It's a very unusual concept and confusing especially when you're arriving in the evening. The woman who comes in at breakfast (just to prepare your coffee) should provide this at the breakfast table in a little basket along side your breakfast of a croissant in a paper bag - that would make more sense. It's a real shame because the property is great, but the management falls far short of the hospitality standards you'd expect in other parts of Italy. I did a tour of Italy for 3 weeks and this was the only B+B to not help me with my one restaurant reservation (the restaurant only had a phone number and owner speaks only Italian). That should have been a sign to tell me not to stay here. So difficult to find the entrance, I tried calling the available numbers but no one answered. Luckily the locals managed to guide me. It is off Corso Vittorio Emanuele, down a dingy alleyway called Traversa Bove, half way down on your right you will see this grand wooden door with a huge arch. Up 2 flights of stairs (no lift). It’s actually an apartment that has put locks on the rooms and each has an en suite. It’s right next to the main road that leads traffic into Salerno so expect a lot of noise. There is a kitchen in the communal area, but don’t be mistaken it is not a communal kitchen, you will be fined for using the non pod coffee machine! Classic Italian breakfast of cappuccino / coffee + croissant is included but you have a 15 minute window to get it. A woman arrives at 7.45am who just comes to operate the coffee machine and provides croissant in paper bags, she will knock on your door to tell you “breakfast”. During my stay, there was 1 other couple in the apartment, and they didn’t answer her about breakfast so they ended up taking our breakfast… but there’s no one to speak to because the woman had already left. On one occasion, during our 15 min window for breakfast whilst I was holding my croissant the woman asked for our passports, so I said I would get it after I finished the croissant, and she said “no, now.” - so hostile and not hospitable. Also, all lights in the communal area are on timers, so lights would go out whilst eating.

Location Poor advice for parking. Poor advice to find property. Extremely poor checking in/ access to the building. I would not call cookies as a breakfast. Owner/receptionist did not understand English at all. Did not respond when calling for the owner/receptionist. Never ever experineced such behaviour.
