Location

Loved the location. 20 mins walk from the train station. The owner who was super nice stored our bags when we arrived early. 20 mins walk to the ferries to get to Amalfi. Very, very clean. It’s a bedroom with a bathroom in her home. Maria gave us many recommendations that were amazing, she was super friendly and made us feel welcome. We stayed over the weekend and it was noisy at night. The shower is a hand held inside a bathtub so it’s a little difficult to shower properly.

Location was great. Next to the swimming beach and marina to board the ferry. Lots of restaurants on the street behind the main road and about 20 minute walk from the train station. The host was lovely. This seems to be a room in a home. But it was private and comfortable. The shower/bath is not ideal. You have to hold the shower head and there is no shower curtain so it made it a little awkward.

Our staying at Il Sorriso was nice and confortable. The property is in a very good location, near the old city, and at the same time at the seaside.

The location is perfect, very close the sea promenade and the old city. The building is clean and secured. The room was quite clean, and the floor tiles are really beautiful. The room is big and beautifully decorated. The bed was good with clean beddings. There is no TV in the room which sometimes made it boring, specially that i got some internet disconnections as well. There is a mini bar in the room. There is a lot of cafes, shops and restaurants in the area. The central location made it quite noisy specifically that i was there over weekend. People were loud below my balcony. The bathroom is beautiful but the water pressure was poor with very old or worn taps.

Very clean floors. The price was very reasonable. Friendly owner, who volunteered to come to the convenience store (tabaccheria) with us to dispute a SIM card scam played on us. Location close to the sea and within walking distance of Castello Arechi. Communication with the owner was a problem. When we arrived in Salerno on our first day in Italy, we had no Italian phone plan. (She suggested going to a local tabaccheria the next day.) We had emailed to say that we would arrive before the cut-off time of 8 pm. However when we arrived at 6:30 pm, no one answered the door bell. I found someone in a shop, who kindly made a call to the owner on our behalf. She arrived shortly afterward. The next day (with our new scammed telephone plan) I tried to call her 3 times but she was busy at work and did not reply. The bed mattress sloped toward the middle. There was very poor water pressure in the bathroom and when I finally had 4 inches of water in the bathtub, the water disappeared 5 minutes later because of a faulty plug. So I took a shower. However there was no shower curtain, so my shoes got wet.

The apartment is in a perfect location next to the pedestrian promenade and the main shopping street. It is ideal for walks both in Salerno and for access to the two ports from which ferries to Capri and the Amalfi Coast sail. Very close by there are supermarkets, numerous restaurants, pharmacies and everything you need. The train station, from which trains to Naples depart, is also about a 15 minute walk away. The apartment itself was tiny, but there was enough room for everything for short stay. We have no remarks about cleanliness, which for me is the most important thing. It was quiet, despite the perfect location, which sometimes brings the risk of a lot of street noise. It is on a high floor, but the building has an elevator. The owner was very nice and kind. She allowed us to leave our luggage in a safe place on the last day, as we had quite a bit of time before our flight and had to drag our luggage around town with us, which would have been terrible. Thank you! Something we hadn't realized from the description and comments was that the room was practically part of a large property where the owner also lived. Of course, there is its own door, which is locked, although you have to walk along a shared corridor to the room. Honestly this wasn't really a problem because it gives you the peace of mind that the owner is around and you can go to her for anything at any time. So it was a surprise, but not necessarily a bad one. The only remark I can point out concerns the bathroom - the shower tap needs replacing.

Maria, the owner, is very kind and helpful. The location in the old town is fabulous.

The owner was super nice and kind. You can find a peaceful retreat here, yet once you leave the front gate you are in a full rush of the city.
-
Nearby every thing you want to see and eat. Little louder because of people around there talking and drinking. Hair dryer didn’t work there because of plugs very small didn’t fit in. The door after lift very difficult to open for me. Because of old style of locks. Luckily Maria always came to open for me.

Clean and spacious room Can be a bit noisy with surrounding restaurants
-
1. It’s well connected to all kind of transportation (both of the ports + train station + buses) for Amalfi coast day trips. 2. Plenty of shops around 3. Maria was super responsive and kind 1. It may be noisy outside at night but that’s normal since it’s located in the center of the city.

Amazing host and a great location very close to the beach and the town centre. The room is spacious and very comfortable. 10/10 recommendation!

The location was close to the port and very walk-able to the beach and other points of interest. Maria was the most gracious host and a very kind person. She made our stay comfortable and was very helpful with anything we needed. Grazie per la tua gentilezza Maria! Il tuo sorriso è contagioso! The nights can be very noisy but that's part of the culture and can be found anywhere in big cities of Italy

Maria and Katerina are both amazing … unfortunately my elderly mum was taken poorly whilst we were staying in Salerno and needed hospital treatment’ they went above and beyond to help and even on check out day Maria let us keep the room until we were ready to leave. The property is spotless and bed is so comfy … little gem of a place … it’s in a fantastic location very central to everything … you don’t need to look at anything else just book this little gem Thank you again Maria and Katerina Nothing

Good location The front door lock doesn’t work properly and it took ages to work out how to work the lock. It needs to be fixed.
