We enjoyed the hot tub and the breakfast in the morning. The room and hotel were very clean. The overall vibe of the hotel was great!

Breakfast not happening. Resturant for dinner, marginal. Place is being remodeled. No ice avail for rooms. For the price, barely worth it. Newly redone room on first floor offered view of construction area. Elevators not working like they used to. However, Excellent location for tourists visiting with easy access to freeway and many great places to visit in Marin and Bay Area. Staff tried to do their best but check in person not great communicator.

The hotel was very clean the room was very very clean and comfortable. Staff was helpful

Very attractive property and very nice staff but definitely recommend you stay elsewhere. 1. One working elevator. 2. 1 ice machine for whole property. 3. Very loud rooms: either roaring air conditioner or roaring traffic, you decide. 4. Shower is a trickle. 5. Rooms are small. 6. $50 a day pet fee and no pet facilities at all. 7. Breakfast is far from free: buffet is $25 a head before tax and gratuity. 8. No coffee in room: plan on schlepping to lobby if you want any. In little cups. In short, long on looks and smiles and weak on everything else.

Of course the construction was loud right above me. I wanted to leave the room ASAP.. Nights were ok. The pillows were the worst.

My check-in process took over an hour because the front desk agent repeatedly insisted that either Hotels.com or I had cancelled my reservation. He stated there was nothing he could do unless I made a new last-minute booking directly through the hotel. During this time, I spent over an hour with Hotels.com support, and their agent confirmed multiple times that my reservation was active and valid. She even attempted to contact the property directly to resolve the issue. When a second staff member arrived, he quickly determined that the hotel itself had mistakenly cancelled my reservation internally. In other words, the issue was entirely on the hotel’s side. What was most disappointing was the lack of professionalism and accountability from the original front desk agent. After causing a lengthy delay and significant stress late in the check-in process, there was little acknowledgment of the mistake and no meaningful apology, I was simply checked in as though nothing had happened. This situation reflects poorly on both staff training and guest service standards. A hotel at this level should be able to properly verify reservations, resolve internal errors efficiently, and handle guest concerns with professionalism and empathy. Given the unnecessary inconvenience, lost time, and poor handling of the situation, I believe some form of compensation would have been appropriate.

This property is under construction. The room that I paid for on Expedia was not the room that was provided to me. They had no rooms available with a patio, which is what I paid for. The hotel is under construction. The rooms smell like cigarettes, and the staff was rude. I would not recommend this property and Expedia needs to update their website in accordance with the hotel.

All of the Hilltop staff were great and very accommodating! Due to the renovation being done on hotel the type of room we requested was not available, but we were given a pool view room and free breakfast for 4 days to compensate by the front desk person ( hate I didn’t get his name he was great)! The waitress, hostess… she did everything, that was at the restaurant in the mornings was amazing! She accommodated everyone with what they needed! We stay at least 3 times a year here to be near my daughters house and this was one of our best stays! Thank you

Room was very clean. It was very quiet

Great staff, easy check in. Room road noise was noticeable, but affordable and close to all amenities. I would stay again but request a room on other side of freeway.

We’ve stayed here before. Nice location and nice hotel. Rooms are getting older, so it is exciting to see the remodeling going on. Rooms definitely show wear and tear. Staff is nice, especially the breakfast host. We remember her from our last stay.

Close to where I needed to go in San Rafael Under construction. Staff didn’t acknowledge me. Room was very sterile. Bathroom didn’t have a counter. Shower wasn’t always hot.

Location is good, and the staff is friendly. Wi-Fi: The connection was consistently unstable, with very slow speeds and frequent disconnections, which significantly impacted my office work. Breakfast: I stayed at this property three months ago, and the breakfast buffet was much better. This time, there was no buffet, and only a single option could be selected from the à la carte menu. Bathroom: The shower gel in my room was empty.

Location: Good Staff: Friendly. Wif-fi: Very bad

The place was clean and nice, and the staff were friendly and accessible to stores and restaurants.

Breakfast Room was a mismatch of odd pieces of wooden furniture, not made for the room. Security charge was $378.58 for a room charge of $526.22 which is outrageous; I don't care if it is returned.
