Hotel Mataleñas is 1969 feet from Mataleñas Beach and Cabo Mayor Lighthouse, just outside Santander. Rooms are functional and bright, with a private bathroom, heating and TV. The hotel is just 1640 feet from Mataleñas Golf Course. Santander’s famous Sardinero Beach is a 20-minute walk away. Regular bus services to the city center stop outside the hotel. The Mataleñas is in the quiet Cueto residential area, a 15-minute drive from central Santander. There is easy access to the S-20 motorway, and free public parking can be found nearby. There is no 24-hour reception or tourist information desk.

Small, comfortable hotel. Friendly staff and easy check in/out/ Decent continental breakfast with good selection. Nice rooms with very comfortable beds and good shower and plenty of hot water. A little bit of TLC/upgrading would have this hotel receiving better scores i feel. However no issues with our stay. Small selection of cafe/bars within short walk and bus stop just outside to take you to beach/centre of Santander Nothing really

Very clean facilities. Incredibly helpful staff. No internet reception my first night and had to change rooms. Both rooms only had windows on a miniscule interior courtyard. Minute single room, not for the claustrophobic. Quite noisy neighbors late into the night. Far from the city but bus nearby. Parking somewhat of a challenge. No food available on site. Good paying coffee machine though.

Clean and spacious rooms, very friendly staff (once we could get inside the hotel - see the review about what we did NOT like). Breakfast was OK. Location is quite remote from the city center. The hotel's site claims that Matalenas Beach is 600 meters away, but it is more like 1,5 kilometers. We arrived at the hotel at 8:00 p.m. By that time there was noone at the hotel but we could ring a doorbell for assistance. The person who answered the bell did not speak English and we fortunately do not speak Spanish well enough. We tried to tell her we wanted to check in but she kept repeating something that we could not understand. We had to call booking.com to get the issue straightened out. Finally, after 45 minutes, we were able to get into our rooms. The keys were hanging on the door, and there was a letter in the room. But the key and the letter wouldn't help us at all if we could not get into the hotel in the first place. Moral of the story: if you're going to stay at this hotel, some knowledge of Spanish would be most helpful!
