The place is an architectural gem. We had to catch an early morning flight and needed a 5am check-out. Not only did they accommodate us, but they offered to put together a boxed breakfast for us - a full 2 hours before their regular breakfast service! The surrounding area seems to be up and coming but not quite up yet.

The staff went above and beyond. They were so nice! The mansion is so charming.

The property was lovely, the staff were very helpful and the beds were very comfortable

Matildas is a historic & elegant hotel. It has antique charm & nice interiors. There is a tranquil garden with various seating where you can relax. The hotel is centrally located within Downtown across from Plaza de Brasil. Easy access to many attractions, eateries, cafes, & bars. Breakfast included pastries, ham/cheese, yogurt, cereal, fresh fruit, & choice of eggs. Kind & welcoming staff. Highlight to Lucia & Macarena for showing warm hospitality. Due to central location & bc my hotel room was at the front section, you can hear some street noise at night. The ceiling lamp is dusty with bugs inside. The reception desk has to buzz the gate to let their guests in & out. Its a security measure, but it can be inconvenient.

Excellent breakfast, helpful staff, and wonderful garden in the back. Quiet area within a 15 minute walk of Plaza de Armas. Nothing!

Beautiful building with French architecture, that has been renovated, and a well kept and relaxing garden. This was an easy spot to walk from to the surrounding shopping areas and restaurants. Our lovely room overlooked the garden and included our own private bathroom. The staff and owner were very helpful, and arranged for transfers to and from airport and useful suggestions on how to get to tourist sites we were interested in. Our winery visit was excellent too. The stairs going up to the room were necessary to take and thou beautiful bannisters made it easy to navigate, it may be a challenge for some, at least for 3rd floor rooms.

Friendly, helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is in a building which is full of character with beautiful decor. Tea and coffee is available throughout the day and there's a bar too. Breakfast was buffet style with an option of freshly cooked eggs. Guests may use a comfortable lounge and there's a lovely garden to the rear of the property. The staff arranged trips and taxis for us and we were very grateful for their guidance. Our room was located on the front of the hotel. The bedroom and bathroom were quite small and due to the age of the building and lack of double glazing, the room was fairly noisy. The road outside had traffic throughout the night.

Gated and charming. Location

Great location. Lovely historic building. Nice room and great breakfast! Nothing.
-
Room was beautifully appointed - and huge— with a terrace overlooking the garden below. Afternoon wine in the public areas was delightful and the breakfast exceptional with choices of cooked and cold foods, fruits and pastries. Coffee was strong and black. Noise from building next door; it was a Sunday night and people partied till 3-4 am! Wow! Impressive! But the good parts of our stay outweighed the less good.

Clean friendly helpful staff Not the best location very rough neighborhood

The hotel was very clean and the staff were incredibly kind and accommodating. They even prepared a boxed breakfast for us, knowing we would be leaving early, which we really appreciated. One drawback was that we reserved three rooms, and one of them had issues with both the air conditioning and a light not working. The bathrooms are also on the smaller side, and there is no passenger elevator—only one for luggage—which may be challenging for some guests.

Felt like I was staying at a palace. Beautiful marble interior, comfortable beds, very clean. The staff was very helpful. The hotel uses WhatsApp, so the communication prior to coming was very clear. They gave recommendations on what to do, arranged our taxi from the airport into the cruise ship terminal. Good breakfast. There was nothing I didn’t like about the property

Absolutely beautiful accomodations. A former home restored to a boutique hotel… the lovely yard with lounge chairs and old growth trees that allowed just enough sunlight to warm you. Breakfast was fantastic, the staff we warm welcoming and catered to every need and request

Nice breakfast and location. Great restaurant very close.

Beautiful property and gardens, an oasis in the city.
-
What a lovely hotel - perfect for me. Small, quiet, comfortable, good value, fantastic staff. And the private garden is a wonderful place to sit and read or enjoy a beverage. There was nothing to dislike

Not safe location
-
The history of the building and the ambience.

Beautiful building and pleasant staff Policy of allowing people to use the outside garden until 1AM meant we had to deal with loud noise and interrupted sleep as we had a garden facing room. Significantly affected our stay
