The gardens…the restaurant..the room !! Nothing

Good room for one night (or more if you're staying in the area); great gardens for the birds; very decent breakfast; good car parking; very pleasant staff nothing really

Beautiful garden setting, excellent food, spacious rooms, friendly helpful staff

It was a spacious grand hotel with a great, large beautiful garden. It is an older property that could stand a bit of updating but it is well maintained.

Dining experience is very nice. The gardens aren’t being taken care of like they used to.

Breakfast was wonderful, but the best part is the huge garden around the property with lots of cool birds. Very friendly staff.

The hotel itself is beautifully appointed: lovely decor and furniture. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with huge balconies overlooking the sprawling, colorful gardens. The garden itself is by far the hotel's biggest highlight with its enormous diversity of plant species and birdlife. We were in Costa Rica on a birding trip and I managed to rack up 50 species of birds here in three days. The buffet breakfasts were fantastic - great variety. I found the coffee somewhat weak and insipid. But this is literally my only gripe, so you know I'm really scraping the bottom of the barrel here. The hotel is otherwise fabulous.

Breakfast was nice! Not a huge buffet but the food was fresh and tasty. Nice coffee as any Costarican place really. Friendly staff even at late night. Nothing really. I had a wonderful time.

The gardens at Hotel Bougainvillea were breathtaking. The place is wheelchair accessible. Breakfast was delicious, especially the typical Costa Rican options. The staff members were incredibly kind and helpful. We had a special request for an elderly family member, and the hotel provided a bath chair for us. I want to give a special thanks to Andres, Susan, Ana, Leonard, and Sebastian and all the staff for making us feel so welcome. I strongly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Santo Domingo de Heredia or nearby areas in San Jose. Reception can organize paid transport to the airport. Allow 45-60 minutes for the trip to SJO due to traffic. I have no complaints; our stay was great!

They didn’t have and didn’t give us what was reserved and paid in booking. They weren’t helpful and blaming booking for everything that was wrong

Location and service were amazing

The hotel is set in a beautiful garden. The restaurant and lobby display interestin paintings and there is a collection of geodes too. The dining room was lively with linen tablecloths and a well trained staff. All was great.

A lovely, well appointed hotel that's close enough to the airport for a stay before or after landing and the grounds are absolutely superb! Truly beautiful park like gardens with a plethora of birdlife.

Excellent breakfast buffet. Lovely garden/grounds in back. Comfortable rooms and beds. Helpful staff. We forgot to tip our maid!
