Grand Hotel Scarborough
About Grand Hotel Scarborough
Overlooking Scarborough Harbor and South Bay, The Grand is an iconic Victorian hotel offering impressive sea views. Alongside its seafront location, the hotel offers complimentary daytime activities and evening entertainment throughout the week, including professionally produced shows, live singers and a variety of activities delivered by our in-house entertainment team. Bedrooms feature an private bathroom, TV and tea and coffee making facilities. Many rooms enjoy sea views. The Harbor Lights Restaurant overlooks the bay and serves a buffet breakfast along with traditional English meals throughout the day. The Coffee Shop offers light lunches and afternoon tea. The Grand's impressive Cabaret Ballroom hosts the hotel's entertainment program, while Scarborough's sandy beaches, the Scarborough Spa and Scarborough railway station are all within easy walking distance. Built in 1863, The Grand was designed around the theme of time, with four towers representing the seasons, 12 floors for the months of the year, 52 chimneys for the weeks and, originally, 365 bedrooms representing each day of the year.

Location Smell, cleanliness, attitude of staff
-
The only positive was the location. The room was filthy, there were strange marks on the walls, the windows looked like they had never been cleaned. The fire alarm went off in the early hours of the morning with no explanation. The entire experience was awful.

We liked it when we was leaving the hotel. The reception staff was helpful and did try to accommodate us. 1st room on the 5th floor, the bed wasn't level as it sloped towards the headboard, TV didn't work, cracks in the walls, thick layers of dust on TV. they moved us after speaking to reception staff. 2nd room on the 3rd floor, thick layers of dust on headboard and TV, bathroom not been cleaned as in faeces left in toilet, cups in the brew kit were dirty.
