Beautiful old building with lots of history. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Great location and great breakfast. Enormous family rooms , the bathroom looked new and the children loved the pool. Sadly you could see certain areas that needed a good deep clean and its well known that the Britannia hotels owner dosent upgrade his hotels. But, would we stay again? Yes!

Our family room was well set out. Good selection of breakfast, hot plates and hot food which isn't often the case with a buffet The room hadn't been cleaned properly before our arrival. The hotel throughout was unclean which is such a shame for such a beautiful hotel. The staff were extremely slow in clearing tables and replenishing plates, glasses cutlery etc. at breakfast. All these things could have been covered by more and better trained staff.

Great location. Nice room with a comfortable bed and all the facilities I required. Small but adequate bathroom. The hotel has a lot of character. I really enjoyed my stay there.

Location was great. Entrance lobby was beautiful Room was tilted. 5 inch gap under the main door and bathroom door. Beds tilted. Door handle hanging off the bathroom, no handle on the tap. Mold on the shower and windowsill. Shower panels missing. Dust everywhere. Musty smell.

Great location, great bars, large and quiet family room. Pool and it's facilities need some repair/updating. Bathmat in bathroom was mouldy and their was a staining on the mattress topper. I requested replacement which they agreed but never delivered in the 3 nights we stayed.

The room had a bath which I prefer I was not allowed to look at the room before I paid. I was told my room would be basic only as I had booked through booking.com. I felt like an inconvenience and like a poor person to them despite paying 60 a night. Had I not been travelling alone with my daughter I would have gone elsewhere as I felt looked down on by staff. I have stayed at lots of hotels in Scarborough and always allowed to have a quick look at the room first and also treat very nicely as a full paying member of public whether it be online or not. The room was shabby, dated and dirty. Cracks in toilet and sink and sellotape on the wires of heated radiator. No spoon and dirty cups for drinks. Overlooking the back of other rooms too. Was alright for one night but there are much better places to stay in Scarborough for same price. I had to wipe down all surfaces including the bath before usage.
