Amara Shanghai

Our family enjoyed our stay at Amara. The breakfast was the best we have had in China! The kids had fun at the pool and the front desk, including John in the front and Molly Chang in the kitchen. The whole staff, were very helpful and pleasant.

The bed was comfy. Staff was friendly and Zero Zhang was very helpful. The reception staff were also very efficient. Hotel is a bit aged but was still well maintained. Had bit of issue with the lock but not a deal breaker.

The pillows can't hold their shape throughout the night, which caused problems with my neck and back as I slept. I start sleeping on one pillow and have to end the night sleeping on a stack of three. If you have issues similar to mine, its best to pack your own pillow with you. The chairs are also really old and could use replacing, as the seats all tilt towards the front so its difficult to keep your butt in the chair.

All staff are helpful. Qingmin keep our room clean all day. John Sinnie and Zero help us a lot on staying ❤️❤️

LOCATION: - The hotel is conveniently located near many restaurants, convenience stores, massage parlours, and nail salons, and is easily accessible via Didi. CLEANLINESS: - The cleaning staff do an amazing job every day and keep everything spotless. They are also very accommodating — on one occasion, we left the hotel at 4pm and they were still happy to come in and clean our room. STAFF: - The staff (concierge, front desk, greeters, bellboys, etc.) are all incredibly friendly and truly go above and beyond to help. - The front desk staff were always reachable via the room phone and were very patient with my random requests (like masking tape and measuring tape) during my frantic last-minute packing. - A special shout-out to Coke Liu, who helped me organise delivery boxes for all my shopping — he even added me on WeChat to assist me outside of his working hours. I’m so grateful to him! - I’d also like to thank John Liu and Molly Chen, who always greeted me with a smile and consistently offered help whenever I saw them in the lobby. CONCLUSION: Shanghai was our final stop on our China trip, and we weren’t expecting much — but the staff at this hotel were so welcoming, hardworking, and courteous that I would definitely stay here again when I return to Shanghai. 1) Note that there are NO laundry machines or dryers in this hotel - you will have to Didi to a laundromat if you want to do your own laundry instead of relying on their dry cleaning service. There is a laundromat- Jingyue Self-Service Laundry (Chengshangcheng Branch) about an 18-min Didi ride from the hotel. Note that you NEED a Chinese phone number to get a mobile verification code to operate the Wechat or Alipay app-operated washing & drying machines. 2) Nothing to do with the hotel but when you order a Didi, some of them find it hard to locate the entrance to the hotel driveway (which is 1-way only). Might be good for the hotel to install a large sign to show the Entrance.

This is our second time at Amara Shanghai. My wife was travelling alone and had again an excellent stay. One of her friends was not feeling well, and the concierge Zero Chang took great care of the sick friend. A big thank you also to the security guard Liu Xiuo Long and the housekeeper Li Xue for making my wife feel very comfortable and well taken care of. We look forward to our next stay here! Nothing!

My family had an excellent stay at Amara. We requested a conjoined room to fit our family, which was no hassle at all. All the staff are very helpful and welcoming. Special shout out to Yana and Evan, from the great breakfast service, and Yang LanZhen as well as the other cleaner on our floor, who did an exceptional job of cleaning our mess and keeping us comfortable.

The room was excellent and highly recommend the suite option for a luxurious stay. All the staff were very accommodating. Absolutely go for club lounge option when booking as it was a great place to relax! Compliments to the chef, the food was excellent all 3 nights we visited. A special mention to Noomi Yang and Una Yang who made each visit to the lounge a very pleasant experience. The concierge was helpful with getting a taxi on checkout and thanks Evan Guan for checking up on our stay The internet speed was the only annoyance of the stay. It took a long time to load some webpages and the connection seemed to drop out occasionally.

The staff at check-in, Sinnie, and the restaurant staff, Yuna, were truly exceptional. Sinnie kindly brought us coffee while we waited for our taxi and even upgraded my parent’s room when the washlet wasn’t working properly. Yuna went out of her way at breakfast to offer us additional fruit options since my mom doesn’t eat melon. Their thoughtful gestures and attentive service made our stay especially memorable.
