The concierge was helpful with our online orders and the room cleaning was top notch. Otherwise very beautiful The pool was closed and they forgot to extend our stay at check in. Also some other people in the elevator said the hotel was shaggy. Breakfast closed early

Location is not as close to the bund as you’d think when they name it “on the bund” its still a 15 min walk.

The service was far below what I expected from a St. Regis hotel. We stayed for only about 8 hours, checking in at around 11:00 PM on May 16 and leaving for the airport at around 7:00 AM. This was the final night of our China–Japan trip, and we chose this hotel because of its reputation and positive reviews. At check-in, we were given a room on the 16th floor with a blocked view. We did not book a Bund-view room, but our reservation was for a room with a view, and there was no indication that the view would be obstructed. In my opinion, the room did not correspond to the room type we had booked. Instead of offering a proper solution, the staff suggested a paid upgrade, even though they knew we were staying for only one short night. After check-in, we wanted to see the hotel facilities. The lounge near the lobby was closed due to a private event, and we were not even allowed to look inside properly. We then tried to visit the rooftop terrace, but there was also a private event. Even after explaining that we were hotel guests and only wanted to briefly see the view, the staff were reluctant to allow access. Eventually, after insisting, I was allowed to briefly enter the terrace and see the view. The hotel’s design may appeal to guests who like classic luxury, but it is not ideal for those who prefer modern or minimalist interiors. The location is good overall, but it is still a little removed from some major tourist attractions. Unfortunately, the service issues significantly damaged the whole experience for us.

The butler service and overall attention, as well as the room comfort, amenities and property facilities. The only minor point to improve is the need to offer more fruit options at the breakfast.

The hotel was beautiful. The location was great and my view of the bund from the room was breathtaking taking, specially at night. The breakfast buffet was also such a great start to my morning there.

Amazing interior design, great breakfast, very spacious and comfortable rooms decorated with exquisite materials. We also loved the drinks area in Spago restaurant with a great view of the city, nice selection of wines and delicious snacks and desserts, particularly, Kardinalschnitte! I did not like the coffee at breakfast, too watery.

He overall design and quality of materials made it feel sumptuous and such a treat to be there. Entire staff was professional and lovely. The views of the Bund from our room and Spago (restaurant— also recommend) were amazing! Even the tub had a beautiful view. Breakfast was very good with many good quality choices including dim sum and fresh salad bar. Loved the location for wandering and the park nearby. Being asked if we wanted to upgrade when checking in. It’s fairer to just explain the views from your room in the descriptions so we can pay for what we want and have proper expectations. Discussing this at check-in feels tacky. The only other thing was the placement of the large TV in the room — it was right in front of the window and view! It could be mounted on a wall. I wouldn’t care if there wasn’t a TV in the room at all.

Staff were very friendly and always want to help. The mattress was not suitable for those with back pain. The pillows caused neck pain, even after trying different types. Breakfast was average; I expected more options. However, the presence of pork near the eggs, salad, and cheese was completely inappropriate and made no sense.
