Friendly lady staff and great kitchen. Everything a backpacker needs. Nothing to complain about.

The location is lovely. The lockers in the dorm were spacious and nice. It was nice to be provided with I know it’s not the property’s fault, but what is with roommates thinking it’s appropriate to shower every morning in the dorm room bathroom at 3 to 4 am? (If you’re a lady, I wouldn’t recommend staying in the female-only dorm with private bathroom for this reason.) The kitchen was often dirty, guests don’t clean up after themselves, and space in the fridges was very limited for the amount of guests. The showers were mouldy. And the vibe of the place was like an extended version of high school with cliques and drama. I know that’s not necessarily the responsibility of the hostel and staff, but it’s the kind of vibe the hostel attracts.

that there were nice lockers. I also really liked how I didn't see any bugs or anything like that during my stay. The showers were surprisingly good. I didn't like how hot the rooms were. the beds were fine, but could have been a bit more comfortable. complementary shampoo and body wash would also be nice.

If you're staying in the winter, it's a bit chilly, but other than that, no complaints

Easy access via public transport or own car. Friendly and helpful staff. Had got a bit of a style.

Nice friendly place. Staff were lovely and very helpful. Clean, quiet, and location is great. Highly recommend this place. Have nothing I disliked at all.

It has a homely feel. Staff are really lovely. Rooftop terrace. The location is rubbish. It could be a lot cleaner.

No curtains on the bed, but long term you can get a bottom bunk and put your own sheets up. Short term and it's not a big deal.

Great for socialising, excellent location. The owner and female staff super friendly, Nice space in the dorms. Good bathroom and hot water. Good fridge space and nice to be able to cook. The kitchen and living area feels bit dirty and messy. Beds so creaky, no curtains. Living area doesn’t look as good as the photos but generally is alright. Feels like there’s too many people in the hostel and not enough space to sit in the shared areas in the eve.

The staff was friendly It felt cramped and uncomfortable but it was on a Saturday and all the girls besides a couple of were drinking in the room and getting ready to go out... it was like a bomb went off in there. It seemed like a very young crowd that day. It was messy. It was hot and stuffy and I didn't have any convenient spot to plug my things to charge. The kitchen was pretty dirty when I happened upon it also. I wouldn't go back unfortunately....

Had multiple stays (short and longterm) in Barkly Backpackers and would recommended to everyone else who is looking for a nice, affordable and familiar hostel in Melbourne.
