APX Darling Harbour

Nothing went well !! APX Hotel Darling Harbour is an outright scam and Booking.com is complicit in duping unsuspecting guests into losing their whole accomodation payment through rorting cancellation fees and the unstated requirement for a $200 security deposit at check-in. I booked and paid for a room through Booking.com and at check-in was told I had to pay a $200 security deposit. I did not have $200, so could not pay the security deposit and therefore the hotel would not check me in. They said I would have to cancel. I cancelled and lost the whole of the payment that I had made to Booking.com. I complained to Booking.com, who advised me that it was an issue with the hotel, not them. It was Booking.com that I paid, not the hotel. It should be made clear during the online booking process that a $200 security deposit is required and also that a cancellation fee is charged.

Our group had 2 studio rooms, and they were each much bigger than anticipated. We had everything that we needed and there are a lot of food options here as it is located right in amongst Chinatown. World Square, Paddy's Market and Darling Harbour are all very close. There is a big balcony with table and chairs as well as table and chairs in the room so plenty of room to eat takeaway. We were going to see a band at the Metro and it is super close and convenient. The rooms are a bit dated but definitely adequate. The area is a bit smelly sometimes and watch out for very fast delivery bikes and scooters.

Location, close to Darling Harbour Very basic, amenities advertised were not for that site but another site in Sydney. So it wasn't what we were led to believe by their advertising. Dirty carpet, very strong smell from all the Chinese restaurants on the street. A bit disappointed in false claims of pool and gym onsite. ?

Located in Chinatown, quiet regarding the location, walking distance from the tramway. Washing machine and dryer. The sofa bed was not comfortable at all…Something was always missing or not working (AC- only one key for the lift- very few items for the kitchen…)

Nothing we couldn’t stay because no one was there for the check in No reception person, at the time of the checking on the website couldn’t stay and they don’t give the money back

Wifi, aircon not working well consistently

Good location on peripheral of Sydney’s Darling Harbour and China Town. Spacious, well equipped apartment. Friendly staff helped store our cases pre and post booking. Balcony cleanliness was not on par with the clean room.

Location I’m leaving a negative review because there was construction during our stay. The noise started at 7:00am and continued for hours, and we couldn’t sleep properly. This seriously affected our experience.

Very clean and great location, lots of great places to eat.

The unit was not clean…. We had no water for most of our first day there. And the comforter they was hidden between two sheets (not even a cover) was disgusting. Covered with blood spots and what appeared to be feces. Spoke to the reception and the female working was disgustingly rude and non apologetic. I have filed a complaint with the customer relations with regards to receiving compensation. And awaiting a response.

The lobby, was too small with no restroom.

I didnt get to stay at all!! Absolutely disgraceful reception with a 'sign call this number if needed" so I called and a flustered guy came out of the lift, no logo on shirt, you would never have known he worked there so I said I was checking in and asked to leave my bag and he looked like he had no idea what to do so he said just leave it in the back room and I asked "don't you need my details" and he said no all good. so I left my bag as I was early but took a photo of my bag and it's surroundings first and went to work, only to receive a call 2hrs later that my booking had been cancelled and they couldn't accommodate me in any other room. I went back online to check booking.com and the apartment I had booked which was the last one at the time suddenly appeared $200 dearer than I paid. I have also booked them for a family christmas on the 7th but will be cancelling as I don't want to risk this happening again when I am with my family!!

Was a bit noisy during the night. Room could have been sound proofed better.

Good location, easy access to city and attractions. Room was clean and spacious. A lot of noise from the street at night.

The room was nice and the lifts were quick. The location was great - easy access to the city and beyond. The reception times stated 1000pm, but no one was there at 930. I got into the foyer luckily and then had to wait for someone to come.
