The location was amazing. Very convenient short walk to the old town with all the restaurants and bars. Nothing

The location is terrific, in the heart of Tavira. The views from the rooftop at sunset were lovely. Good massage at the spa. The swim up pool bar was a lie; we had to get out and walk around to the bar if we wanted a drink. It is not allowed to eat around the pool, either; you are alerted by a member of staff who ‘calls’ to you to come to the eating area away from the pool (we watched them do this to multiple groups of people). The rooftop bar was nice but you are simply paying for the view; the food was fine but not equal to the price. Our room (though a suite) was on the street side and so on top of lacking a view, it was very loud. We heard cars all night. We arrived at 1pm and were sternly told we couldn’t check in until 2pm; fine. But they made us sign a form to allow charging to our room and then made us pay by card for everything, claiming it never worked. I think we managed to charge one thing to the room the entire stay. It makes me nervous to have signed something allowing room charges but then it doesn’t work?? Why was I asked to sign it? The spa was fine but no one used it as a swim cap was required (we didn’t bring swim caps; seems most others didn’t as well). Lastly and most disgusting was finding a used bar of soap in our shower. There are many beautiful hotels in the Algarve and I would recommend checking them out before staying here.

The location, amenities, staff and vibe were all perfect. No complaints

Room 012 needs mantance. I had to wash the Aircon filters out as there was no cold air getting through, after washing at least a couple of years of dust and grime the Aircon worked like new. I reported to reception the shower drain needed unblocking also the sink water takes a few minutes to run away. They said they would get it sorted.. however I then reported it again when checking out. So apart from maintenance on room (the safe had to be opened by reception on leaving) as it will not open with the security number..

Well appointed, friendly welcome, excellent room Breakfast (quality) could have been better

Plenty of choices for the excellent breakfast and really enjoyed listening to the piano planning. Location was just perfect with every amenity close by and walking distance. Staff very friendly and always there for information. Room staff were excellent at keeping room clean and tidy. The only thing is the pillows in the bedroom could do with replacing.

The breakfast was phenomenal & the location perfect. In rating this hotel from 1 to 10, I would give it a 20 starting with staff, cleanliness, & service. Everyone was terrific & seemed to go beyond expectations. I would highly recommend this facility & I travel quite frequently. Nothing. It was perfect!

Very good Loved the piano playing Nothing really

(We did not use other facilities) Nothing

Very abrupt attitude of reception staff on check in Staff didn't seem happy , no one was smiling
-
Walking to and from the hotel is a challenge given the steep hill to town center.

Buffet breakfast had a good number of options and the quality was acceptable. They had a pool, gym, and spa but we didn't use those (too cold outside for swimming). Room was stuffy, had some flies flying around in there, and the curtains and sheets smelled like cigarette smoke and mildew. We had to air out the room by opening the balcony door and chase out the flies.

Not too far from old town and an easy walk They give you one bottled water and when you ask for another the next day they say no you only get the first bottle free. However we didn’t Also our bath towels had huge tears in them that the staff could not have missed.

The staff was pretty distant. This is the only hotel I've EVER stayed at that required a swim cap in order to use the pool. AND they required 10euros (in cash) deposit for a pool towel? I was so put off, that I never even used the poo or spa. This is supposed to be a 4 star hotel? It mostly caters to tour groups - so that is how they treat everyone. Also it just felt "cold" with not feel to it.

This was our third stay at AP Maria Nova over the last 7 years and it never disappoints! From the welcome glass of wine to the excellent location.. we were given an upgrade upon arrival.. the extraordinary breakfast... I could go on..

Friendly staff. Close to the centre. Room was clean and cosy with a great view (booked poolside) Powerful shower. Loved the spa. Shop sold some lovely jewellery. Views from the rooftop bar are amazing! The only thing I can think of is the spa not having a seating area to lounge/sit and read a book, but it’s not a big deal.
