Very interesting and beautiful. Lack of electric plugs in the room and no shelving in the shower. No milk for the coffee!

Of course it is an old property so there was a little mustiness in the room but still very fine.

Unique and pretty property. Great location. The pool was too cold to use but was lovely to sit beside in the sun. The courtyard and different areas of the hotel were beautiful and the staff was wonderful and very helpful The rooms were quite tight for 2 people and quite warm with no temp controls.

Parking was a problem because some guests took up 2 spaces leaving not enough for everyone else.

We had a lovely room with a balcony. The room was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the breakfast and two dinners. Also snacks at the pool. The town is a new favorite and we will return. It was a bit of a walk to most places we wanted to see.

Excellent breakfast in old cloister. Preservation of historical artifacts. Nice swimming pool. Uneven service and attitude from front desk staff. Some excellent, some below expectations: Examples:1. Left room at 10:45am with sign for it to be made up, came back at 3:15 pm and it was not made up. Mentioned to front desk and reply was “we make up rooms until 9 pm,” before agreeing to call house keeping. 2. Note in bathroom says to request vanity items, including dental kit. Asked for toothpaste, none available at front desk, told it would be sent to room. Never came. 3. Cut my foot on bathtub stopper (middle of tub has non-slip material, stepped toward the front and slipped forward. Mentioned to manager, who offered sympathy and said they could provide bandaids. Next day asked for extra bandaids and another person started to give me directions to the pharmacy. When I said I had gotten some before, she said we don’t have many before begrudgingly opening the first aid kit.

    Location, amenities, friendly staff

  • Engine customer May 2025

The location was excellent and the breakfast was very good. The room was disappointing. While we were not expecting the nicest room, we were hoping for something a little nicer since it was our honeymoon. The room was not particularly comfortable- from the bed to a relative lack of AC (unless we left the windows open for air and mosquitoes). On our last morning, we had to catch an early train and were told we would be given a complimentary boxed meal. The gesture was nice but the food was so below the standards of the food served at breakfast - stale, sad sandwiches, a cookie as hard as a rock. We would have rather just gotten breakfast on the train, so it was a disappointing way to end to our stay.

The location was excellent, the restaurant was very good and everything was very clean. Also, the front desk and restaurant staff did an excellent job managing things during the electrical blackout. The restaurant staff did an amazing job taking orders and serving everyone during the blackout. I didn't get a wake up call I requested, but fortunately I woke up on my own.

Love the location and the historic nature of the entire building and area. Just beautiful! We were upgraded to a suite with 2 rooms. It was by far the largest accommodations we had on our entire trip to Portugal and Spain. The front desk staff was fantastic- friendly and helpful. They gave us excellent recommendations for local activities and restaurants! Lovely pool area! I wasn’t overly impressed with the breakfast. Although there was an extensive selection of food, it just wasn’t the quality that I expected. We ate breakfast out on the second day at a small French bakery with delicious coffee and croissants.

The place is beautiful and such a pleasure to walk through. The staff are attentive and professional, the rooms were wonderful, the location perfect, and the ability to park on-site cannot be under appreciated. n/a
