Great location, very clean, huge space. Heat was an issue - no way to get it cooler - the thermostat didn't seem to do much. opened the windows onto the street, but that got loud. didn't know how to check in or who to meet - it wasn't clear.

Plus, good breakfast & location. The museums could be improved, I mean the collection and English language explanations.

The building is absolutely beautiful, breakfast was quite good and plentiful, the location was excellent. I stayed twice, in two different rooms, and definitely preferred the Steinbeck room. Some of the staff were readily available, friendly, and helpful, others were hard to find and less helpful.

Mischa's place was incredible -- beautiful rooms, amazing views, warmth, and hospitality. It's clearly a labor of love. Mischa was extremely helpful, generous, and accommodating. I stayed in two rooms -- the small double the first night was fine, and I had plenty of room to spread out in the building. But the second night Mischa moved me to the top floor of the other building, which was insanely beautiful and comfortable. Cannot recommend highly enough! I honestly can't think of anything.

I stayed at Writers' House of Georgia for about six weeks earlier this year and it quickly became my home in Tbilisi. The building itself is stunning — gorgeous architecture with traditional Georgian furnishings that give it real character. My room was quiet, which is rare in Tbilisi, and the beds and pillows were incredibly comfortable. As a very light sleeper, I was surprised at how well I slept every night. The location is perfect — just a few minutes' walk to Liberty Square. But what truly sets this place apart is the staff. Khatuna, the manager, is one of the kindest and most patient people I've ever met. She went above and beyond to help me with everything — not just matters related to my stay but personal things as well. She's also a walking encyclopedia of Georgian culture. Ana works the night shifts and is an absolute sweetheart — positive, humble, and a wonderful conversationalist. I learned so much about Georgia through my many conversations with both of them. I was dealing with serious health issues during my stay and was not the easiest guest to manage. The grace and warmth I received from everyone at the Writers' House during a very difficult time in my life meant the world to me. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Nothing.

Its an heritage, museum home .. we can not call it hotel.. very calming home with history feelings and vibe .. I loved my suit where a famous author was living.. breakfast in dining room was very beautiful .. I cant describe my feelings. Its perfect at the end.. Nothing.. just small notice that there is no elevator only stairs ..

Stunning property and lovely staff. No elevators, They can have some dedicated staff to help out with the luggage as there are no elevators in the mansion.

If you seek mostly convenience, comfort and luxe amenities - there are better choices for you. This is not a hotel, it is a museum, a cultural center and a refuge for writers - especially those suffering under repression. They maintain a few rooms that are offered to such writers free of charge - and to other travellers at a price. The house is a Gilded Age mansion built by a cognac king and patron of art and literature. Its first and second floors celebrate the role of writers in maintaining culture and freedom. The top floor is a classy garret cluster of ornate guestrooms and common spaces. There is no elevator, but grand stairs in the lower floors and servant-stairs on the final flight. Breakfast is honest, abundant and authentic, ample but not excessive. The guest rooms are huge and well-appointed with antiques and similar. The staff is not omnipresent (we were frequently the only ones in the residency) but are very friendly and cheerful. When we met cultured Georgians in Tbilisi, they would infer some undeserved indication of intellectual merit from our presence in the residency. During our week here, we shared the space with only a few other travellers - and they all seemed more worthy than us: film directors, opera connoisseurs, cabaret singers. I was comfortable and delighted to be here.

If you’ll go over reviews in recent months alone - not only do I like it, but will absolutely got out of my way to stay here if I have any chance or opportunity to do so. The place is magical, BUT do note that it’s not a hotel-hotel. It’s writer’s residence in a historical building which holds both very bright and very dark history. It’s not about “how’s the breakfast” (it’s fine, it’s what any reasonable human may ever need), it’s not about “why is there no elevator”. The whole point is there is no elevator. John Steinbeck (et al.) walked the same stairs. Opened the very same doors. Admired the very same - though younger - trees in the garden. It’s not about 3-4-5-whatever-stars, it’s about experience, reflection and appreciation. It’s about silence, listening to the building itself breathe in and breath out. Reading. Writing. Making friends or acquaintances. I love the place unconditionally. Fight me (JK).

Not my first review and, hopefully, - not the last one. One of my favorite places in the world. Even though it makes me cry each time. Don’t miss this one - because it’s not only/just about the hotel. It’s about the House itself. Explore the House, the museum, the surroundings, take part in cultural events if you happen to stay around them. The House is a vessel in the Heart of Georgia itself. N/a

The room is on the street side and there was quite some noise from traffic and partying neighbors in other buildings.

Great place! Large, clean, conveniently located, with a view of the Mother of Georgia. This is a very comfortable base from which to explore Tblisi.

The breakfast was lovely. Staff were very accommodating as we are Vegetarian. Plentiful, delicious variety of food. Rooms and building are Fabulous- quirky and artsy and very comfortable Air conditioning was broken. Residence contacted us and offered an early check-in/late checkout to make up for the inconvenience. This worked out great As my daughter Arrived At 2:00 am. There were plenty of fans and the room was comfortable.

This is my favorite place I have ever stayed. A truly unique and wonderful experience. Other reviewers are correct that it is less like a hotel and more like a writing residency or staying with family.

The property was amazing in many ways from a historical and cultural perspective as well as located in a vibrant neighborhood. The only thing I can come up with is that I wished we would have stayed longer.

Breakfast was available only after 9....had an earlier flight. Nobody at the property to let us in. Only a very grumpy security guard.

I would add more vegan options for breakfast

We were so lucky to stay here and meet the hosts and other residents of this place. The room was chic and clean, nothing to complain about. The building itself is absolutely gorgeous — please take your time enjoying the terrace and the garden, if you stay here. -
