Comfort Suites Terre Haute University Area

The upsides: -not cheap but not higher than comparable hotel chains, either. -located conveniently to I-70 -bed very comfortable; sofa bed was "good" according to my son - lamps with standard outlets as well as usb outlets; very easy to plug in without having to bend down The downsides: -We arrived, tired and worn out after a 12 hours driving, 16 hour day. The person who checked us in was clearly annoyed she had to get up from wherever she was sitting. No smile, no "enjoy your stay", no customer service anything. She's glad I'm not her supervisor. I've trained tons of people and that attitude right there would have gotten her written up. (Staff upon checkout was friendly and professional, no issues at all) -Room was dimly lit even with lighting on -no small freezer compartment to freeze my insulin icepack -laminated vinyl flooring gave the room a really cheap and cold look; furniture was worn out and out dated. -coffee was cold and truly horrible tasting Overall, not an "I want my money back NOW" experience. Just.....disappointing and underwhelming. I won't stay here next time.

There was nothing wrong with the room itself, the bed, linens, and room were clean. The pool had been closed by the health department prior to our staff due to "unfit" conditions. The employee working at check-in was very nice. There was no one around when we left, so we had to leave the keys and on the desk. We left prior to breakfast, so I can not comment on that. We have stayed at Comfort Inn and Suites many times and have always been pleased. We were disappointed that it was not stated that the pool was closed.

Lotion, shampoo, conditioner and body soap provided in squeeze bottles. Plenty of large pillows (I brought my flat feather pillow), fairly descent mattress and towels. Air and vent on wall and easy to adjust. Highly recommend staying here. We walked across the street to the Italian Restaurant and two can eat off one meal.

They charge amenities to your room, so be prepared, they come off AFTER they clean your room. Those charges may take up to 10 days to come off your credit card. Room was pretty clean, but there is a lingering smell like "old cigarette smoke" or something in the room I was in overnight. Breakfast was decent, and pretty typically to these types of hotels. I could hear people above me walking around part of the night. Bed was firm which I like. I say 3-5 stars overall. Get ride of the slight smell and I would move it to 4.

Breakfast was good. On duty person did get bedding after interaction (see "not like" Very noisy. No sound insulation at least between floor 3 and 2 Paint peeling on bathroom ceiling. Someone must have taken sofa bed bedding cause I had to get it.

Front desk staff are kind and helpful. Was pleased with my stay. Special shout out to Front desk person G who was especially helpful and kind.😊

Breakfast was very disappointing. We got there at 0600 when it opened. The scrambled eggs were cold and there was no syrup for the waffles. Couldn’t find any staff to ask for assistance.
