Hotel Poseidon Scheveningen

Large room. Parking not included; even though there are pictures of parking spaces and description parking available. It does say it somewhere in the text but hidden. Parking was a 10 minute walk or so. No physical reception, all digital. However the website didn't load properly so we were locked out of our room for a while. We couldn't contact them by phone, even though it was after 9:00. Finally via booking chat we managed to get information about the keycards to the room that were in locker boxes.

For people who don't have orientation skills - like me, maybe a higher label at the building entrance will be a helpful feature. Yet, the support is great and you will get the proper guidance.

There were smokers underneath and the smell in the bathroom was terrible.

I came with my girlfriend. We enjoyed our stay. The only problem was the parking for our car. But all.was good. Thank you for having us.

Great location and access. Decent room - small but cosy. Clean overall. Absolutely horrid smell from the bathroom, which rendered it very unpleasant to use. The decor is pretty dated and the mattress should be replaced (quite worn and lumpy). Paper thin walls...

After the first room i was given i asked to change to another room. The second room was fine, if a little austere - plenty of space, very good bathroom. this was good value for money. The first room i was allocated (a 'superior single' ) was extremely cramped; toilet seemed to be installed for someone with no legs it was so close to the wall; light fitting on the wall was broken; room was cold; no idea how i would have escaped if a fire had broken out elsewhere in the hotel. Luckily the staff responded to an email and i was moved to a much better room a floor below.

- location is great, everything you need in Scheveningen is close by; - pretty basic, yet cozy, well equipped rooms, relatively inexpensive; - swift and professional assistance from administration. This is self check-in hotel with no staff onsite (except housekeeping). For these type of hotels, it is extremely important to have someone you can address arising matters because otherwise, if no one respond in a chat, you are stuck there with you and your problem one on one (more on that further); - adequate compensation for check-in inconvenience in a form of first night fee refund (more on that further). There was really only one problem, but a major one. Well in advance I requested specific room and hotel confirmed it. 1 hour prior to my arrival, I received a message that my desired room is not ready yet and digital keys for other room to stay first night. However, upon arrival I discovered my 'new' room is far from ready either. Used bad sheets and towels, someones belongings and tons of stinky trash with unfinished food waste (It was 2nd of January, I guess someone over-celebrated New Year: ). Having not a single staff person on the premises at that moment (once again - self check-in hotel) I was quite baffled what to do next. However, I got pretty fast response from hotel administration via Booking chat with apologies and digital keys for yet another room to stay first night. Moreover, administration offered me to refund the price of a first night as a compensation for inconvenience. After first night I moved to my initially desired room and the rest of the stay was great. So all in all, initial bad impression was smoothed out by responsiveness of the hotel administration.

Only at certain times there is someone at the reception. If there is no one you should call the other hotel.
