Fantastic location for getting straight off the train from the airport - just over the road!

Being close to Ueno Park, you can hear the music being played outside a little. Fortunately it seems to stop before midnight so my sleep wasn't too affected. The walls are also thin so you can hear people from other rooms and people moving outside the hall. The toilets are a standard old western style toilet with no bidet which were cold to sit on but serviceable. Not really a negative for me, but from 2:00 AM to 5:00 AM, the hotel entrance will be locked and staff will not be available. That means you cannot go out during that time and you must come back before 2:00 AM since before you leave the hotel, you must give the hotel staff the room key.

-Great location -Friendly staff who accommodated English speakers well -Bathroom had a bit of a musty smell. I would air it out more + use some sort of air freshener

Property is an older property so facilities are a little dated. No meals are served there. But what makes this property special is its location.

This is my second time stayed at the hotel. Recommended for solo travelers. Easy access to JR and Metro Line as well as Keisei Skyliner (to Narita). Basic amenities like shampoo/soap/towel provided but you can bring your own toiletries. Nothing.

The room only have heater, no AC so it can be rather hot on some certain weather. The concierge has to brought us an extra fan to use.

Very good location near Ueno station. It is a bit bit old but well maintained.

Recommended for budget accommodation around Ueno. Easy access to Keisei Skyliner, Ginza and JR Line. Walking distance to Ameyoko Street and Ueno Park. Room space is bigger than others hotel, after open my luggage 24" still have space! Nothing, the only downsize is the toilet does not have smart bidet.

Hotel Kangetsuso was very friendly and comfortable and exceeded my expectations for the price. I would recommend it. The reception staff were very friendly. We were greeted with complimentary coffee sachets and free sample cosmetics as a welcome gift. The room was simple but had everything we needed and more, with shampoo and slippers and bathrobes (we had an en suite double room). Water pressure was good in the shower. Location was excellent being immediately opposite an Ueno station exit, very easy to get to from Narita airport. The neighbouring building, which our window faced, was being demolished (this was in April 2025). This caused some noise disturbance in the mornings.

The property was spacious and clean. The Ueno and Keisei-Ueno stations were close by, which was very convenient. Lots of great shops and restaurants within walking distance. Right next to ueno park which is great to explore!
