Staff speaks English. I had an annoying but memorable experience with my roommates that was influenced by how small the rooms are and the fact that there are no lockers. I had a Chinese roommate and a Japanese roommate, both of whom didn’t know each other and tried to communicate to each other in basic English. The Chinese roommate had woken everyone up around midnight searching for his 500 yen breakfast ticket and asking where it was. The Japanese roommate tried helping him and probably interpreted that he was trying to say that I had taken his bed, and so they both opened my curtains while I was pretending to be asleep. The Japanese roommate said something in Japanese, which sounded like he was asking if I was in the right bed, while the Chinese guy shone his phone light in my face (room lights were off) and asked me where his breakfast ticket was. I angrily closed my curtains and tried to go back to sleep, but ended up staying awake most of the night. I was very annoyed and tired the next day, but looking back, it was a pretty funny experience seeing different cultures interact with one another and showing what their priorities are. The small and intimate nature of the hostel can lead to some interesting memories.

The Location The restaurant. They don’t serve food.

The facilities is old and some of them are unhygienic compared to its counterpart, Sakura Hotel Nippori, which offered cleaner and newer environment. There were no specific luggage storage and all of the deposited luggages (both arrive earlier than check-in or for picking up later) are in the lobby area which might raise concern for some people.

We had stayed there in the past. We love being in the book district. Tons of used book stores line the streets. Great location, Very close to the Jimboucho subway station. The staff is remarkable. They offer a small dinner menu that had some great choices. It is kind of a hostel, small and economical . Shared bathrooms, showers and wash up sinks in the hall. I never had to wait to use any of them. All very clean. Maybe not for everyone, but we are seasoned travelers and experience all kinds of accommodations. Saw lots of young travelers there. We are in our 70s! Breakfast is just coffee, bread, and the soup of the day. We brought in breakfast items from the nearby convenience store.

Spacious and close to restaurants and the metro Didn’t like the first night cuz the floor heater wasn’t working and it was cold. They did fix it the next day. The water from the sink only put out very cold water (it’s supposed to be both hot and cold water coming out from the sink). They tried to fix it several times but to no avail. They gave us a carafe so we can boil some water to be able wash our hands and brush our teeth.

The location was perfect and it was easy to get around the city. The facilities are a bit outdated. The space was clean, but you could definitely tell it’s been years since it’s had any updates.

It was pretty cold in the rooms.

However, the location felt farther than what was described by other travelers. My main issue was the lack of consideration from other guests. I hadn’t slept for two days due to travel from another prefecture, so I went to bed early around 9 PM. Unfortunately, the people in the room were extremely noisy—loud movements, constant sounds, and no regard for others trying to rest. I even took melatonin, but woke up just two hours later because of the noise. What’s disappointing is that no one seemed mindful of the shared space. It felt very disrespectful. In the end, I had to book another hotel at midnight (APA) because I couldn’t take it anymore. I was frustrated and exhausted. If you value peaceful and quality sleep, I honestly wouldn’t recommend dorms or capsule stays like this. Respect in shared spaces is something not all travelers seem to practice.????? Great location

Great location in Jimbocho — quiet but central, close to subway lines and bookstores. Friendly English-speaking staff, clean rooms, and a nice communal area. Good value for Tokyo. Rooms are small (typical for Tokyo) and a bit dated. Street noise could be heard at night from some rooms.

Best was the location within short walk to Imperial gardens. Variety of restaurants nearby. Cafe in Sakura marginal and the "breakfast' not much to speak of. Room was good for price. Easy access by subway and train from Narita and to Haneda airports Thought picture in cafe showed pork on rice but over 50% was some thing else gelatinous in consistency and not on description. Sinks need more attention during mornings.

The staff were the stars. Some of them were were proficient in English making my first time ever staying in another country less intimidating. Even the one person who did not have a lot of English vocab was very patient with me and so helpful when showing me how to get jelly out of the jelly packs, haha. The location was pretty good. Close to 2 convenience stores withing 5 min walks. A bathhouse that was close by (although the bathhouse staff couldn't speak any English so you may want to ask the hotel staff for advice on bathhouse etiquette if you don't already know). The imperial garden are super close too and really cool. There is also a lovely walkway (called the Greenway possibly--my memory fails me already) and it is beautiful. Made me go 'am I really in the middle of a city?' I thought the bed and pillow and comforter were all super Comfy. Loved that I was provided a yukata to sleep in. Not a big fan of the shared bathroom. It only takes one person to tie it up. There are two showers though, that I could find. Sharing a bathroom also means sharing some parts of the other people, like their hair. In the sink. But that comes with the idea, I suppose. The staff was pretty good about cleaning. Hair in the sink was never left for more than a night. Not the best soundproofing on the doors. I was right across from the sinks so I heard everytime someone turned them on. Thankfully I have a sleeping mask with speakers in them to drown it out. Smell of water damage bugged me a lot more than I hoped. My nose ran anytime I was in the room. I intend to message the hotel about it so they can check for mold or mildew. The smell was only present in the room and nowhere else though.

Had the breakfast everyday. They have toast soup and coffee, which is great for starting your day.

The food and being able to hang out in front and drink some beer late at night.
