Excellent location, coffee shop and bar on location.

Amazing cute little place, great value for money
-
Shimokitazawa is a great neighborhood to stay in, quieter and much more relaxed than nearby Shinjuku or Shibuya, but still very lively, great cafes, bars, restaurants and more thrift shops than you can count. Also very easily accessible by train to the rest of Tokyo.

Great communal space. Enjoyed the bar for a relaxing drink at the end of the day. Incredibly helpful staff in helping sort out communication with regards to my lost phone.

It is in a nice location, with proximity to subway lines, trams, and nightlife. The hotel is extremely run down. There is a strong odor in the hallways and in the room we stayed. Carpets and walls in the hallway and in the room are dirty. There are almost no amenities and no room cleaning. Given the state of disrepair, this feels less like an attempt at being eco-friendly, and more about cutting as many corners as possible. I stayed here two years ago and did not recall the hotel to be in this state. If not for the nonrefundable rate, we would have moved hotel the first night. This hotel has the potential to be really nice, but our stay was disappointing.

Great location; nice rooms; great cafe

Extra expense for blankets
-
Mustard is a fine hotel but everything is extra - if you feel cold at night you can get a blanket - but you have to pay for it . Its a very pay to play kind of place and the focus on money is annoying. Blankets when you need them for no fee

The location of the hotel was only a 10-minute walk from the train station. It was located in a quiet residential area. The local government has been working on beautifying the area and the hotel is located in a green belt walking path with no cars permitted to drive. Maybe for people from abroad is not a big deal, but for us, Japanese, was: there was no TV in the room. It was specially disappointing because we were not able to watch the World Series Soccer match between Holland and Japan.

I LOVED the location of this hotel - its a bit outside of the more touristy spots in Tokyo but its so lovely. There are so many shops and parks and the whole neighbourhood is so chill - tons of vintage stores too. I really liked the hotel - they were really helpful with any questions we had. You also get to choose records to take into your room to play (which i thought was super unique). You can rent bikes there and there is a coffee shop attached to the hotel if you wanna do work or hangout. I just really enjoyed the experience. Rooms are a bit small overall but it was clean and comfortable!

The coffeeshop in the entrance, the comfort of the room, free hot water

The location was good. I was next to the cleaning room so I heard a lot of noise during the day.
-
Amazing neighborhood and hotel! Felt like a hub in the local community.

The vibes the location
-
Amazing location. Beautiful lobby. Great staff and local cafe. Slightly small rooms for the price. Beds were somewhat hard.
-
Great vibes - I loved that the local neighborhood dog lovers and adorable young families congregated there every morning. The music and the bar are groovy. The rooms are clean and well planned. Breakfast in the morning was a perfect way to start the day. The location was perfect - close enough to everything but off the hectic track of sightseeing in the rest of Tokyo. I can’t wait to go back.

Clean. Excellent facility!

The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The location was near to restaurants and shops, and the lobby was trendy. Past the lobby doors everything changed. The main hall to the rooms was bland with no decor and dirty carpets. The rooms themselves also had no decor or tv, very little space, no dresser, and a tiny bathroom that got the toilet and sink wet every time we showered. Also the bed was incredibly stiff, and of the two pillows we each had, one was a flatten synthetic pillow and the other felt like it was full of beads. If I was expecting a hostel or motel these would have been fine, but for the advertising and price point this greatly missed the mark on the expectation of trendy hotel in fun neighborhood.

A little more worn out and basic essentials than expected
-
Great staff and shred welcome area with cafe A little more worn down than I was expecting - stained carpet and wall scuffs
