HOTEL Lotus Ikebukuro (Adult Only)

Ok, so to be clear, this is not a family trip hotel. This is a LOVE hotel. Its sole purpose is for couples. If you understand this, then read on. I was very interested in the rooftop bath. It's free to use as part of your stay, but you need to inform the front desk. There is no soap to wash with up there, but there is a drain so you can safely dump water on yourself before getting in the tub. It's big enough for 2 people to be comfortable. They provide bath powder (I recommend the Hinoki one) that you can use in your room. This hotel also does not trap you in the room like other love hotels. But that also means you need to make sure you lock your door, and return the key if you go out. While there is a "screen check-in menu", there is still a front desk and a person who is not covered by a privacy window. Said receptionist was very kind, even if we caught her in the middle of scooping ice cream. If you are expecting 100% privacy, this isn't the place. Normally I am worried about love hotel beds, not because of their history, but because of the lack of sheets. This bed was a King size, had a proper separate topper and plenty of clean sheets. It was a very comfortable sleep. If you book online though this site, you will need to go to the counter and tell them your name to get the room key. You can indeed check in after 3pm like a regular hotel, while most love hotels will have a "after 9pm condition" so that was nice. The booking said the reservation included breakfast, but we never got any information about that and never did get anything to eat from the hotel. Not too upset about it to be honest. Area is SKETCHY AF. Why? All the buildings are love hotels. It's scary only if you wander in without knowing what's going on. The room itself was very clearly a smoking room based on the smell, and had no windows that could be opened for air circulation. We had the AC on all night. Pictures make the rooms look huge, and some of them are yes, but you are getting the "standard" room with this plan. It's quite a bit smaller than expected, with the genkan, and area around the bed packed with furniture and whatnot. Not really anywhere to open a suitcase. They provided PJs and geta shoes for the bath, but they are insanely small. I'm an 8.5 - 9 in western size and I could barely get my toe in the straps. My partner had the same issue with the mens shoes (size 13ish). Surprisingly, the PJs fit just fine.
