Hotel Tobiko

We stayed in a standalone apartment which offered great privacy. The staff members were friendly and helpful. The owner created a warm, welcoming space that felt just like home. It was a great stay for our family. We experienced low water pressure in the shower at times, but this was a minor observation we could tolerate.

Jacob the owner and his staff are very helpful and considerate. The atmosphere is very laid back. Breakfast was great. Will return Good Lord willing. My only small complaint was WiFi signal strength on 3rd floor.

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Tobiko. This family-owned hotel made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The family is incredibly kind, friendly, and always willing to help with anything we needed. Our room was spacious, very clean, and comfortable, making it easy to relax after a day of exploring. The warm hospitality and personal attention truly made our stay special. If you're looking for a peaceful place with excellent service and genuine family hospitality, I highly recommend Hotel Tobiko. The hotel is located very close to the beach, less than 100 meters away. The rooms were very clean and tidy, and the staff were extremely helpful and accommodating. They arranged a wonderful breakfast that included red rice, dhal curry, egg omelette, tempered potatoes, coconut sambal, bread with butter and jam, tea, coffee, and chilled wood apple juice. The breakfast was exceptional. The people were nice and friendly, and I truly hope to visit again.

Our family stayed here for one night and it was such a lovely experience! The rooms were very clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The hosts were super friendly and kind & they made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. Breakfast was delicious with a nice variety of food, and everything tasted fresh and homemade. The location is also great & really close to the beach, which was perfect for a quick morning walk before checking out. Even though it was just a 1 day stay, we felt completely at home. We’ll definitely come back again for a longer visit next time! ??

The family running this hotel is incredibly warm and intentionally have created a space for travelling families. They were wonderful with my son, providing lots of suggestions on local places to visit to make our stay memorable. They recommended a operator to take us snorkelling (Kamal) and recommended marble beach aswell. Both highlights of our time in Trincomalee. Thanks so much! I also liked that outside of the room was a drying rack to dry all our beach clothes. Towels were a little small but when I asked for a replacement they were very accomodating!

Great location, great hosts and delicious breakfast! Great connection to the driver Kumar, a whale watching guide and always there for a good talk.

I think this hotel is run by a family so staff and owners are same. They are very friendly and you feel you are at home.

We had a wonderful two-night stay at Hotel Tobiko in Trincomalee. The family is incredibly welcoming and always smiling, making us feel right at home. The breakfast was absolutely delicious! Highly recommended. The only downside was that the beach right in front wasn’t the most pleasant.

Good Customer Service Clean and calm

Lovely roof top terrace where we had breakfast. Our ground floor room was a family room with four beds for the two of us so therefore, and for our requirements, the room was a bit too cluttered and most of its space taken up by the beds. There was a concrete wall right in front of the room’s windows, so not much of a view. However, the owner, who was very friendly and helpful, offered to move us to a different room on the second floor the next day. Also, the bathroom was very clean with modern appliances. The Sri Lankan breakfast was excellent! There was plenty of food for the two of us and everything was very tasty. There are two main things we weren’t too happy with: Firstly, the hotel’s location, which is roughly halfway between Trincomalee town and Uppuveli Beach. The stretch of the beach closest to the hotel is littered with plastics and offers nothing in terms of tourist entertainment. Also, there are virtually no restaurants within walking distance, so you’ll have to take a tuktuk to go somewhere for lunch or dinner (though the hotel also has a restaurant I believe). Secondly, the wifi signal in our downstairs room was pretty much non existent, and mobile network was very poor, too. Dogs barking all through the night kept us awake, though there’s not much to do about this.

It felt like a home stay, everyone was super friendly and helpful. The breakfast was nice but there was too much. The facilities in the room was limited, no hairdryer, no bedside table, no bedside light. No blanket, yes it's a hot room, but I can't sleep without covering. It would be better if we were asked what we wanted for breakfast as a lot of the food they put on the table wasn't touched as I didn't like it, so was wasted. Not the hotels fault, but the beach was almost a commercial beach and there were no facilities for sunbathing and although I wanted to, I felt uncomfortable going for a swim.
