The hotel was older, but overall the stay was great. We were right on the ocean, and the hotel staff was amazing. For the price and what we wanted out of it (just a good place to sleep while we explored the island), it was great value for our money. I would recommend asking for a higher floor if you want an ocean view, because if you are on the lower floors you will not be able to see over the sand dune separating the hotel from the ocean.

I travel to Tybee many times. This hotel didn’t live up to the hype. My room was very dirty - you can tell they did a quick clean over (sand still tub, sand all over floor, stained bedding) and the air didn’t work all that well (set to 70 upon arrival and changed to 67 when I got to my room by next morning the temp never dropped below 69). Fine for a one night, convent stay, but definitely not worth the premium price they charge

Floor wasn't clean, had dog hair and popcorn kernels on the floor. I paid for a full ocean view room which is the most expensive and the TV in the room was not a smart tv so we weren't able to stream Netflix or prime video. The desk said some rooms didn't have smart tv, but I think the most expensive rooms should.

The biggest positive was the location. Being just steps from the beach was exactly what we wanted, and that was definitely the highlight of our stay. However, the hotel itself could really use some renovations. The paint was peeling on the bathroom door, there were rust stains, and the toilet seat had gray stains that appeared permanent. The room just didn't feel as clean or well-maintained as I expected. We were a party of four but were only provided two sets of towels, so we had to request additional towels after checking in. There was also no housekeeping during our stay. Since we spent most of our time at the beach, sand tracked into the room quickly, and having the room refreshed at least once would have made a big difference. For the price, I also expected a few more amenities. There was no complimentary breakfast or other notable perks to justify the cost. Overall, the beach access was excellent, but the hotel itself didn't match the price we paid. Unless the property is updated or offers more value, I would likely choose a different hotel on my next trip to Tybee.

I booked 2 rooms and 1 room was not cleaned. The floor was filled with animal hair and the bathroom had sand all over the floor. The balcony also had hair all over the ground and the window on the sliding glass door was filthy.

We have been coming to Tybee for 10 years and Hotel Tybee is our favorite place to stay!

Good location but too busy with public parking. Having to scan in to get inside was cumbersome.

For the price, the hotel could offer more in the rooms. Complimentary water would have been nice. Did not see any staff members, except for check in. The Wi-Fi was horrible. I had to go outside to send emails and messages. My family uses apps for television watching and there was constant disruption with Wi-Fi service. Very disappointed with room. The area is nice, but will choose a different hotel next time.

Beautiful beach view. Clean and quiet. Tiki bar at the pool, bike's to get around on was something else. Very pleasant visit.

It's a great hotel if the beach is your goal. Beach towels, beach chairs in the room. Other than that the room is outdated and too pricey for what it is. One side of the hotel is hotel parking and the other side it is public. In the middle of the night on the public side we had some teenagers in a car with blaring music. I am sure it was not a common incident but kept me awake nonetheless. Overall it was good.

I loved the beach view and walkable distance to area stores and restaurants. I felt the bed mattress needed updating and floors were sticky feeling. Otherwise, everything else seemed fine.

Unfortunately, after that, the property starts to fall short. It’s not dirty, but it does feel dated, worn down, and a little rough around the edges. The hotel could really use a significant renovation. The finishes need to be updated, the common areas need more polish, and the overall experience does not quite match the price point. For one, the hotel would benefit from having a real bar or lounge—something more inviting and elevated than the janky tiki bar by the pool. A proper coastal bar, lobby lounge, or ocean-view cocktail space would go a long way toward making the property feel more modern and worth the money. The rooms are a good size, which is definitely a plus. But for what they’re charging, the rooms and amenities leave something to be desired. The bones are there: great location, good views, and spacious rooms. What’s missing is the kind of thoughtful updating that would make the hotel feel like a true beach destination rather than just an older property coasting on its location. With the right investment, this place could be transformed from an aging beach hotel into a modern coastal gem. Updated bathrooms, better lighting, refreshed flooring, more comfortable furniture, improved finishes, and upgraded common areas would make a huge differ

My family ans I enjoyed our weekend stay in Tybee Island. We def discovered a new vacation spot and when we return to Tybee, we are choosing to stay at Hotel Tybee again.

We enjoyed our stay. The floors could have been swept and mopped a little better, but overall the room was nice. Being on the beach I do understand the sand though. The hotel is older but still the room was nice. Good view of the ocean. I would stay there again.

    Passable

The location is the best part about this hotel. Close to everything and very easy to get around. We booked a dune view room. From the pictures, a view of the dunes with the ocean as a background was the expectation. Reality was looking across a parking lot at bathrooms and the back of the dunes.

  • Engine customer Jun 2026

The room was was under par. It was also dirty. The beach had a lot of trash on it. The view was good but had a parking lot in between the hotel and beach.
