Murni's Houses and Spa

It is like a dream . Murni has created a wonderful sanctuary that is very unique even for beautiful Bali . Ubud has become over run with tourists and has truly horrible traffic congestion…. But Murni has a place which is sitting on one of the highest hills very near the center of Ubud and close to her fantastic restaurant ( Murni’s Warang is the first fine Balinese dining restaurant in all of Ubud on the main road perched above a river gorge the food is really great there ) The land she has built her Houses upon once belonged to the Royal family . Her collection of Art is exceptional and quite impressive . The Spa is a full service one and very popular and yet quite affordable . The “big house “ where l stayed has very lovely large rooms with a common room shared by only a few apartments where there is small kitchen even for share use by those on that floor . There is a small elevator with a glass wall looking upon the beautiful grounds many ponds and water features thru out the well maintained gardens . The indoor pool is like something from a dream …. Semi open air is so great because if you are very fair skinned like me to not have to bake out in the sun and wear sun screen is very important … it is always the perfect temperature too … not too hot not to cold …. Just right ! And most important to too me no stink of chlorine ! There is small high quality gift shop in the 24 hour reception and restaurant area . Security on site at all hours in in the walled compound l can not fault perfection .

Excellent stay at Murni’s Houses & Spa. The staff were incredibly welcoming, polite, and consistently helpful throughout my visit. They gave great recommendations for nearby walks, helped arrange transportation whenever needed, and always checked in to make sure everything was going well. The property feels warm, peaceful, and cozy from the moment you arrive. The grounds are beautiful and very relaxing. The spa was excellent and one of the highlights of my stay. I also really enjoyed the restaurant, with delicious local food and good options. This property would suit couples, solo travelers, and families alike. I would happily stay here again. Nothing significant. I enjoyed my stay and would return.

The location and proximity to everything was great. Loved being on the hill away from any city or traffic noise. The room was big and spacious. A/c worked well. The staff was attentive and made our stay so sweet and serene.

Murni's has a wonderful garden that feels like temple grounds. The property is very central but very quiet, up off the main road. Housekeeping people were very nice and conscientious. The room was tired and unloved. Also the people at reception didn't seem to know much about the area and the kinds of things travelers want to know (where to get a rental bike, get laundry done, etc).

Private apartments set in amazing gardens right next to central Ubud. Fountains everywhere help dampen the noise, and my kids loved playing with the friendly dog (they did check that we were okay with the dog being there, before they let the dog out). We didn't have breakfast included but ate there anyway. Food was fresh and tasty and reasonably priced. It's a short walk to the palace and art market (easy to walk home after the evening dance shows), or to the Blanco museum in the other direction. It is up a narrow lane up a hill, but drivers are able to park and turn around up the top. We had no issues getting gojek cars to/from the door. The spa and pool looked nice but we didn't try them out. Next time.... You need to order breakfast the night before (this is tricky for one of my children who has a hard time making decisions). There is no restaurant on site, they bring food up from Murni's Warung down the road (we also ate there a few times, they have tasty food and drinks and a lovely setting by the river). We also didn't realise that toast needed to be ordered separate to eggs (if you're ordering just eggs and not the 'big breakfast'). There are a lot of steps on the premises. This wasn't an issue for us but may be for those with limited mobility.

Nothing! This was the most horrible hotel experience we ever had. Me and my family of five arrived to the hotel on December 31st and checked in after a beautiful day early celebrating New Year to find an infestation of ants in our children's room with hundreds of ants coming out of a hole in the wall and several insects inside the beds and crib. At 11:00pm on New Years Eve we had to discuss for 1 hour to be changed to another dark room as it was impossible to get a taxi or another hotel. The next day we obviously left the property and contacted the manager to request a refund and forget the horrible night to continue our vacation. The manager had the audacity to blame on us the issue saying we left opened windows and food in the room, when we were not even in the room given (that had NO windows) until 9:00pm at night. Our children were biten by the bugs, our New Year Eve was ruined and the following days we spend time getting Booking.com to get a refund of our money as the manager never respond to our requests. The hotel never took responsibility and denied a compensation for a serious sanitary issue that showed a luck of hygiene and safety. We spend 2 months in Bali, stayed in 8 different accommodations and never experienced something as disgusting as this hotel. Please avoid.

Delicious breakfast, beautiful garden, comfortable room - what more could you want!

Murni’s was a home from home. It was a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of Ubud. The breakfast was perfect. Just the right amount and there was something to suit every appetite. The pool was a nice break from the heat at the end of the day. All the staff made us feel so welcome and at home.

A beautiful oasis, in a walkable area, and the most helpful, kind, and friendly staff. Their spa was also amazing. I will definitely stay here again next time I’m in Bali!

Excellent place. Amazing location, just in the center of Ubud but still very quiet and relaxing. The property is beautiful and welcoming. The attached spa is very professional: this was the best massage I got in the entire trip! Nothing major. The bed is a bit old and you have to book the breakfast the day before (indicating a time). I would prefer a bit of flexibility
