I have stayed at Gypsea Bali 3 times now and it truly is a beautiful, little peaceful haven in Uluwatu. It is close to shops, restaurants and coffee shops but set away from the hustle. It is beautifully designed, immaculately clean and has a wonderful staff. I will always stay here when in Uluwatu. I love everything about it.

The main pool looked beautiful (but we didn’t have the chance to use it). The restaurant is okay, I’d like to mention the watermelon juice: it was delicious. The good thing is that we had a full refund when we decided to leave the hotel after several hours. Unfortunately Gypsea didn’t meet our expectations at all: • there was extremely bad smell in the room (looks like mold) • the air conditioner was dirty inside (and probably the smell came from there) • the room is rather old and not the value for money (we visited 4 hotels/villas during our Bali trip and it was the most expensive and the worst) • there was a standart code for a room safe (known to the staff), so we had to call someone to change it for our private code (seems strange because usually you don’t need the staff to change the code and there should be an instruction for it) • the most uncomfortable thing: different kinds of insects on our bed (mostly behind the pillows). That was the final point, so we decided to leave after several hours instead of booked 4 nights • the staff didn’t seem to be very friendly and helpful (comparing with other hotels we visited during this trip) • the location is rather far from everything and you have to go down the road (no pavements)

Beautiful stay, amazing staff! The bathroom is outdoor but the room was very comfy. Not very walkable area, but location very convenient to reach different places in Uluwatu.

Location is fine This hotel delivers extremely poor value for money, especially given that it’s priced on par with the Apurva Kempinski but offers nowhere near the same quality of experience. What should have been a luxurious stay turned into a disappointment. The private pool and poolside chairs were filthy, the towels were dirty, and even the carpets inside the room looked unclean. The bed linens had an odd smell, and the entire room felt as though it had never been properly cleaned. This was particularly disappointing because the facilities themselves could be quite nice if they were maintained. Spider webs in multiple areas suggested long-term neglect, and there were visible cracks throughout the flooring. We ultimately had to leave the hotel early due to becoming very sick (unrelated to the hotel), but even if we had been healthy, we would have left early regardless to save our honeymoon. Overall, if the hotel were priced at a fraction of its current rate, the shortcomings might be more forgivable—but at such a high price point, the experience falls drastically short and requires major improvement.

Had a lovely villa. Very private which I enjoyed with its own pool. Shared areas were lovely also. The lock on one room was a bit tricky to use. Other than that all perfect.

The Location was perfect, tucked in and quiet, but close to all the restaurants and shops, wonderful staff and food!

The staff were excellent. So friendly and welcoming. Cannot fault them at all. The room was a decent size and I loved the day bed we had. I feel bad giving this feedback, but I feel travellers need to know before going ahead and booking this property. The hotel is actually located right on a high traffic road which isn't captured in any of the photos or previous reviews. You can see the road from the lobby and pool. This meant we could hear all road traffic from our villa throughout the night which made it difficult to sleep. There was also A LOT of chickens and roosters next door that would not stop crowing all day and through the night. The earplugs supplied by the hotel did not work so I had to use my over ear noise cancelling headphones to sleep which made for a very uncomfortable sleep. Our bed was sunken in the middle so we kept rolling into the center throughout the night. The food was really nice at the restaurant however, we found it quite overpriced.

So far, the best hotel in our entire Bali experience. Clean, beautiful, the hospitality and good vibe of the staff was amazing, we feel welcomed from the first second, in a sincere way. The pool is great, you have your own little pool. We love it. The only thing I can mention is that is not at the center of things, location. But nothing that your bike or a Grab cannot fix. Also, note the breakfast was not included.
