Needed a place to crash after train ride to Utsunomiya and before MotoGP then next day. It sufficed, but there are nicer buildings in the area. Inadvertently booked smoking room on first try via booking.com, and between rebooking and payment issues ended up spending over $300 for a room that was initially booked for. $150. Breakfast buffet OK for $10. It was convenient to JR line and GP shuttle pick up. BTW, there only a single currency exchange located a block past the West side of the station, and it’s not open on Sunday, at least not before 9a. It’s just an older, kind of run down property. It wasn’t worth the $300, but it was what was available at the moment. It is what it is.

Good cleaning facilities on the ground floor, easy to use and great for those staying only for 1 night. Staff were very helpful and friendly! The size of the bathroom was rather small. Anyone tall would have to watch their head, suitable for a short stay!

This was my first time staying at any of the Smile Hotel branches. The room and the hotel were very clean, the staff were extremely helpful and friendly, and it was in a good location. I spent most of my time in Nikko - getting there using the JR train from nearby Utsunomiya Station was easy. The room was basic in terms of amenities and furniture (which I was expecting when I booked), but it was comfortable. I would stay here again. The soundproofing was not the best. There was a child in the same hallway as me (I think in the room across the hall), and it was often loud. There was also another room of party-goers who were loud in the early hours of Saturday morning. If you can sleep with earplugs on days when people are more likely to go out or return late, I recommend doing so.

Breakfast was vaired and tasty. It wasn't presented as nicely as it is shown in the pictures but the quality and taste of the food was excellent. The Bathroom was a little small and didn't have a stool.

I did not like the smoking floor we were on but I wasn't reading carefully enough to see which floors were smoking floors or not. I also wish the breakfast seating area was a tad bit bigger as well.
