The room in the basement was really awful, it was my worst experience in Europe.
-
The bathrooms were pretty gross. They smelled bad all the time, and the floors were soaking wet every time I went in. Only one women's toilet for 10+ people, not idea either. I wish the facilities would have cleaned this place more, particularly the bathrooms.

The facilities. The room was not clean.

I thought the bathroom facilities were very clean, appreciated the linens, and thought the rooms were clean and generally great for the value. We also loved the location, and didn't mind having to train into the city center for a decent price with public transportation. The room was quite stuffy, opening the window did help, and the beds were slightly uncomfortable. However, these factors were not a huge issue and definitely worked for the price.

A bit moldy, dirty under the bed. The rooms in the underground floor are super humid and have a highly unpleasant atmosphere.

Very nicely decorated. Close to city center. Some things need to be fixed such as the wallpaper that is peeling off the walls.

We stayed at the basement floor, the restroom is only 1 room and not that clean. Most of the time there’s no tissue. There’s 2 shower rooms but 1 the lock is broken. The door is very transparent so if you stand near the door, mostly you will be seen. Moreover, the room is much smaller than the picture. The bed is always making squeaky sounds (the top bed) when you go up or down.

Leaving. There was nothing to like. The pictures are amazing but the place was terrible. Do not stay here, especially in the basement. While the decor looks nice, it was so dirty and gross. I have travelled a lot and stayed in many cheap hostels but this was one of the worst. The bed didn’t look clean, many hairs were in the sheets and there was a bug crawling across the pillow. All the pillow cases zippers were broken so the pillow was not actually covered. The towels provided smelled bad. The blankets were small and did not cover the length of my body. The showers only had a frosted glass door into the hallway which did not provide much privacy. You could see people showering through the glass and it was very uncomfortable. It was a co-ed space. The shower mat was fabric and soaking wet- a plastic one would be much better. There is no ventilation in the basement so it is very dank and smells musty or like mould It would be simple to add a ventilation fan in the window. Because of the humidity, the smells were terrible. All of our clothes smell like this now and we started to get headaches on the second night. This was the worst part of staying here. We tried to open our window but could only get fresh air in if we opened the door, which you can’t do while sleeping or out. So it did not take away the horrible smell and damp feeling. Only one toilet in the basement with many rooms with multiple people using it. The urinal room has no door so anyone could watch you pee. There was no hand soap in the bathroom with a toilet for the three days we were there. For the amount of people staying there it was not cleaned regularly enough, and the common area was very small, the garbage was overflowing in the kitchen. I have never stayed somewhere so disgusting and regret booking this so much. We considered leaving the first night upon arrival but stayed because it was late and we couldn’t lose the money. I feel that health authorities should evaluate the basement of this place for its health and safety.

As a hotelier, I unfortunately encountered a few issues that I cannot overlook when it comes to value and service. First, upon check-in, the tables in the café-style entrance area were dirty. Since it was a shared space, I chose to overlook it, but that doesn’t make it acceptable tbh. When I entered the room, I found someone’s dental floss on the window side , which I hope they will check and remove after reading this review. The bed and the towels didn’t feel hygienic, there were stains in the pillows they placed on the bed, and the floors were dirty, with spider webs on the walls. (On checkout day, I also had the opportunity to meet the lovely friend who made the webs.) I understand that common areas might not always be perfectly tidy or clean , but these issues in a private room are absolutely unacceptable. I tolerated it since I was just there to sleep, and didn’t want to throw away my money since it was a budget trip but I really hope this feedback is taken as constructive rather than critical. By addressing these issues, they could create a better environment for future guests. To be honest, I don’t plan to stay here again, and I cannot recommend this accommodation in its current state due to serious hygiene issues.

The location is very central which made exploring the city easy and fun , and check in was soo simplified and the communication was quick and efficient. The hostel was nicely decorated and had everything we needed. Perfect for two-night stay. The room had weird smell and I believe it’s from lack of air and not being able to open the windows (or at least we didn’t know how to open them). For two nights, we didn’t mind.

It was value for money, especially if you consider that Vienna is very expensive. The kitchen was fully equiped and the location is good, which means around 20 mins walking from the central squares. There is no staff at all, expect the cleaning lady. That means there is no way for a direct communcation with employees. I dont want to be sending emails while I am in the hostel. Thus, there was no way to leave our buggage for a few hours last day, as it was mentioned in the booking. Something negative as well, was that in our room the wall was "falling" and with any small touch, small pieces from the wall were falling in our bed and in the floor which was annoying and made the room dirty. Lastly, the heating was very high (February) and I was sleeping almost naked without cover in order to handle it. We could not lower it down more.
