Overall, we had a good impression of the hotel. The staff were very polite, friendly and helpful — really great people. The atmosphere was pleasant, the rooms were comfortable, the location was excellent, and the breakfast was very tasty. The view and the general feeling of the hotel were also very nice. However, there are a few points that I believe could help make the hotel even better. The first and most important issue was the lack of hot water. In the evening, we informed the hotel that there was no hot water in our rooms. We had booked two rooms — 501 and 502 — and the hot water did not work in either of them. Unfortunately, no action was taken, so we had to take cold showers both in the evening and again in the morning. Maybe cold showers are good for health, but during a hotel stay this is definitely not very comfortable, especially when you are not prepared for it. The second point concerns breakfast and the organization of work around the hotel grounds. Breakfast is served approximately from 8:00 to 10:00, and during this time someone was cutting the grass, making noise, moving furniture and working directly near the guests. People come to breakfast to relax, enjoy the view and the atmosphere, not to watch lawn maintenance. This is not a complaint about the gardener personally — please do not punish him. It is more a question for the hotel management. It would be better to organize this kind of work outside breakfast hours. Also, it may be worth buying modern garden equipment, for example good electric edging shears, so the work can be done quickly, neatly and without disturbing guests. One more small request: there are seagulls with chicks living on the roof. Please take care of them and, if possible, make sure they have a safe place. Apart from these points, everything was good. It is a nice hotel with a great location, delicious breakfast and very pleasant staff.

Absolutely perfect place to stay for us in Porto. Having visited Porto a few times decades ago, but only for day trips, I knew that if we ever stayed overnight, I’d want to be on the Vila Nova da Gaia side. The views of Porto from this side of the Douro River are spectacular. Well, this hotel lets you soak it all in without ever leaving your balcony. We gasped when we walked into the room, because not only is the view gorgeous, the room itself was too. They thought a lot about guest needs here: multiple outlets AND USB ports, quality robes and slippers, a spacious closet, a SMEG kettle, Nespresso machine, coffee/tea, a firmer bed for bad backs!, blackout curtains, comfortable chairs outside and in. Can’t speak to the TV, because we never turned it on since we had “Porto TV” views from the balcony that we gazed at for hours while sipping our hot beverages. Staff were very welcoming and sweet. We had one issue getting our A/C to turn on and we’re pretty sure they fixed it remotely without ever stepping into our room. Lots of modern aspects to this hotel and for us grumpy, older curmudgeons, it was pretty neat. :-) Lastly, this hotel is in the perfect location! Just near the bridge across to the Porto side, next to all the wine cellars, next to a parking garage that was easy to use and had plenty of room when we were there, and below the Jardim do Morro light rail stop (so an uphill walk/steps). A previous comment made note of lack of privacy with the cable car overhead, but we never thought it an issue at all. Unless you’re doing something incredibly private and racy right next to your window, nobody is going to notice. That we couldn’t set up permanent residency in our hotel room. :-)

Beautiful room and good price Checking and checkout times were not flexible, and when I checked in at 4:30, they didn’t know if a room was ready. Restaurant was pricey and the menu had too much pizza.
