Residence Inn by Marriott Washington, DC Downtown

I was all prepared to give a 5-star review - when I received by email a notice that I had been charged $4.95 per day for “data service”. No one ever mentioned any extra charges for Internet, assuming that’s what this was. Otherwise this hotel was great - large, clean, comfortable rooms with a full kitchen, a laundry room and a gym. They had a terrific daily free breakfast that included gluten- free items individually wrapped plus a dedicated bagel slicer and toaster oven. I can’t imagine why they chose to have such a deceptive charge tacked on at the end without any explanation.

Parking was $65/night, underground, very tight, and no elevator to haul your suitcases. It’s two flights of stairs to the lobby. That’s important for many people to know. Breakfast was good, lots of options. We walked to many sites and restaurants. Bed was comfortable.

First the good things: Room was spacious and well stocked. Large with plenty of room for three of us. We had some incidents during our stay that included a faulty toilet, a faulty fire alarm, and the other thing that was alarming was that the web site quoted $50 a night for parking, but it ended up being $54 plus $10 taxes. $64 a night for parking is a good bit more than $50! I was shocked. But overall, it was a good stay, and I would stay here again.

The room was just perfect for 1 or 2 people staying for a week or 2. The kitchenette was exactly what was needed to keep my travel costs at an affordable rate. I will definitely stay here next time I am in town.

Superb

I had a great stay. Breakfast was delicious, room was clean. I will say the staff was very helpful as our first room had a broken A/C system and the room was extremely hot. Thankfully staff moved us to a new room with a working A/C.

Very Clean, staff was very friendly. For my trip, it was nicely located, walking distance to everything on my agenda. I would stay here again!

Everything about the hotel was great, the only problem I had was we had to ask for soap for the bathroom. No soap and no shower cap for your hair.

The breakfast was fresh and tasty, everything was laid out neatly with clear labels and instructions to prevent cross contamination. This made me very happy as I have dietary restrictions and worry about these things. It was clean and replenished often. I was thoroughly impressed with the hotel and the breakfast in particular. I asked for Ana extra blanket for our room and housekeeping was prompt and polite. Overall a very pleasant stay.
