Bed was a little hard and quilt could have been a little wider for two people

The hotel is located in the beautiful mountains of Zao Onsen, which is an idyllic village with picturesque views. That's probably what makes this hotel seem like it's better than it is, because I really don't believe this hotel is worth the price they're charging. It's the location around the hotel that's fantastic, not the hotel itself. When it comes to the Petit Resort, I will say that it was very clean and quite well-organised. The room we got was spacious and the establishment itself is quite small with only a few rooms, giving an intimate and cosy vibe. The manager also let us check in a couple of hours early, which was very courteous, and gave us a full breakdown of all the necessary details of the place and the town using Google Translate due to not being able to speak much English. The hotel, despite being in an onsen village, does not have an onsen on site. Which is a bit of a let-down since many other places in Zao do have onsens within their establishment. The Petit Resort does, however, have a "private hot bath" which I realised later is just a regular bathtub with hot water that you can book a time slot for. When you get in there, you open the door to find the tub is already filled with water and there's a sign that says: "Please do not pull the plug." It was a little weird to me that the tub was already filled — is this the same water that the previous people soaked in? Why is it not okay to pull the plug, drain the water and re-fill with fresh water that I can sit in? Because this isn't like a jacuzzi where there's a constant flow of water (that would have been fine), this was literally just a tub of stagnant water. Is this normal in Japan? I found it really odd. The other thing that sort of annoyed us was the manager's behaviour at breakfast and check-out time. Yes, he was very respectful and friendly at check-in. At breakfast time, though, he came to our door and knocked to let us know it was breakfast time and, when we said we would be there shortly, he came and knocked again and again to get us to come down for breakfast. I appreciate it's important to be punctual in Japanese culture, but this was kind of rude. When he knocked the door the third time, I opened the door to tell him that we'd be there in one minute and he asked me if I wanted to cancel breakfast (even though I had already paid for it with my booking). He did the same thing at check-out time when he banged on the door and told us it was time to leave. Finally, the breakfast. I don't think I have ever been to a worse breakfast in any hotel anywhere. There was only one option (pork sausage, mashed potato and onion soup), the portion size was very small and we were served not even being told what the meal was.

Ski-in, ski-out location, modern rooms, clean, very warm and accommodating host. It can be challenging to especially during winter but the staff were super helpful to get the luggage up using their sleds. The drying room could be a little warmer to help the gear dry up quickly.

Great location on mountain, food was really good, breakfast was different every day. Had dinner there as well it was nice. Rooms are small but expected. Had to walk up the ski run about 100m to get into the property

It’s easy to go skiing or snowboarding. The lift is just next to the hotel. The hotel owner is kind and funny. I have a great experience here.

Fantastic location, right on Uwanodai slope - actual ski-in ski-out. Host was extremely friendly and helpful, the food in the restaurant was great and good value. Nice draught beer! Shower in room with a shared hot bath that could be booked for free. There's a ski/boot room in the basement that opens onto the slope. The decor is a bit dated but in a very charming way. Not much storage in the hotel room for ski clothes.

Ski in ski out and wonderful staff Getting bags up the hill in the snow but the owner came with a sled and made it easy

Superb

Very accommodating host - allowing us to use the dining area even though we did not buy from the restaurant. Plus, host provided us water! Thank you for your hospitality. Host also helped us with the bags in the thick snow. Nil

Ski – in, ski – out. Very loud room, good on site services. The owner is very sweet and helpful, you can buy your ski lift tickets on site and he will advise you on the resort. A bit dated, not very flexible for checkout. On our last day we were not allowed to take a shower after skiing after check out which is unfortunate.

Location right in the slopes. The property has character. I love the wallpaper it has this old feeling to it, clean place. I love the hot bath tub you can book 24hrs. Hard to find. Maybe put in the information to access it is you have to go to the ski lift which is in the Zao Base Centre Jupeer. Then from there when you arrive call the property to help you drag the suitcase to the hotel.

Wonderful stay, very pleasant staff with good communication skills for multiple languages, affordable, clean, great meal service! Would recommend to everyone. Nothing, everything was great.

Right on the slopes, and the staff was very friendly. The hike to the hotel, bring spare legs
-
Staffs are nice Bed are comfy Facilities are well-maintained The hotel is within the ski resort which you need to carry your luggages uphill, walking on snow. Recommend walking on the driveway (less snow, easier to access) then walking a bit downhill on snow to reach the hotel
