A Ryokan is known for good hospitality, service, cleanliness as well as the excellent meals that they serve along with it especially if it's been paid for. Have been to several ryokan stays in Japan and this is by far the worst. This place doesn't cut it at all as a ryokan. Hospitality wasn't great. There was no housekeeping services nor turn down service. They served Japanese bbq within the room which made the entire room smell bad thereafter for 1 entire day. The entire room was also oily after but i had to clean it up myself. The dinner served wasn't cleared up immediately. They left it there to stew and cleaned up only the next morning. The breakfast was just terrible. We didn't even want to eat it.

The host was so friendly and helped us book a taxi whenever we needed. The room was so clean and traditional atmosphere but has everything for a modern life. Onsen was great and well-maintained. It even has a kitchen and laundry machine useful for families. Everything was sparkling clean. We also enjoyed the separate bar where you can make your own cocktails. Nothing, but it would be challenging to walk to this ryokan. I would recommend going there with a taxi from Yufuin station.

The manager (seems the only staff) in the resort, who is very nice and helpful. The room (my room is "Aoi 葵") is large, should be enough for 4 people. Private hot spring is excellent and enough for 4 people at the same time, you won't be disappointed if you want to enjoy hot spring. For dinner, it was a sushi set which looks good and well prepared. No hot food because it does not has its own kitchen, but you can buy some food in supermarket (around 8 minutes drive) and cook by yourselves, it has IH cooker, frying pan, plates, forks, chopsticks, etc. Fridge also offered water, soda drinks and tea which are complimentary. Bed is clean and comfortable. Wifi is fine. For breakfast, just three (we have three people) breads and three biscuits and three juice (though the bottled juice is tasty), you will not be satisfied if you want a big breakfast. You can get yourselves free coffee in a breakfast corner next to the main entrance, it is small but well decorated and designed. Far away from main street and train station, better if you drive your own car.

Beautiful Country Side, its a unique experience. not too far from all the attractions. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. be amazing if there is an onsen, but cant have everything, There is an onsen down the road.

room is spacious with cooking utensils and microwave. Private onsen is good dinner & breakfast are not good, not attractive & not delicious. Besides, the hotel is far away.
