Shiv Kothi - Homestay

Shiv Khoti is a true homestay. Facilities are incredible, really good location and we had the opportunity to spend some days with an extraordinary Indian family. They were really kind and they did everything to make our experience in Agra the best possible. They arranged everything for us, from guide tours, to taxis and reccomendations for restaurants and places to visit. For sure the best place to stay in Agra!

We’re grateful for the hospitality during our stay and especially appreciated the effort put into arranging a driver and excellent guides for both Agra and Jaipur — they truly made our trip easier and more meaningful. The room was clean and comfortable, food was good, and the location was convenient for exploring nearby sites. As visitors from outside India, there were a few moments that felt a bit unfamiliar or unexpected for us — like visiting shops that may have had commission arrangements, and some cultural differences around tipping and billing. This may be completely standard locally, but it’s something travelers might want to be aware of. Overall, we appreciated the support we received and are thankful for the accommodating coordination (arranging driver, guides, etc.) that helped us navigate a new place with ease. Thank you.

We came to stay at Shiv Kothi Homestay at the end of our trip in India, having been worn out staying in other average accommodation where the hosts did not look after us. From the moment we arrived, the family at Shiv Kothi made us feel so welcome. In particular, all three family members went out of their way to help us. The eldest son helped us sort out paying the tolls for our uber intercity as we did not have enough cash on hand, the mother cooked us the most delicious breakfast (her aloo parathas were legendary) and helped talk to our taxi drivers in Hindi, and the father put us in touch with a fantastic and safe driver at the last minute for a fair price when our other rides back to Delhi fell through, enabling us to get back to Delhi airport in time for our flight. I would highly recommend using their drivers. On top of that, the rooms were modern, clean and large, and the bed very comfortable. It was such a relief to stay with a nice and honest family, and we could not recommend this place more for other travellers to Agra - and for any type of traveller. Super nice house, very spacious, nicely laid out. We only stayed on night so didn't really get much time to chat with our hosts. Pity I think this is an ideal place as a base to explore Agra. Beds were really comfortable. Good value for the cost, A fine example of how things should be. Nothing bad to say

Truly exceptional stay! Shiv Kothi was one of the best places I stayed in India. The hosts were incredibly kind and attentive, the room was spotless and beautifully designed, and the atmosphere was calm and welcoming. Very clean and nice. Highly recommend!

Exceptional

Everything! Such a wonderful family. When the hotel I orgianly booked was unacceptable I booked this and was so happy. Clean, excellent service, so many wonderful sitting areas. Bed was soft. Shower was separate,.unlike other places in India, no bucket bath. 100 percent recommend.

The host, run by a family, was really good and cooperative. They accepted our request to do an early check-in at 8:30 AM in the morning. Common space on the ground floor has a nice sitting area, a big dining table besides the kitchen. It is kept clean and you get a good home cooked breakfast. The rooms were large, clean and comfortable, with good storage spaces. The room also had an attached balcony, shareable with another room. The balcony has a sitting space and it's good to spend some time sitting idle and listening to music. The bathroom was clean and tidy, and spacious enough. Also there are a lot of restaurants nearby with good food options.

Good location, close to some restaurants and Taj Mahal. Clean big room and comfortable furniture. The stuff is helpful.

Our stay at Shiv Kothi was absolutely wonderful! The place was spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated, and had all the amenities we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The attention to detail was impressive. The location was perfect, making it easy to explore the area, and the neighborhood was peaceful and safe. Mukesh Ji was an exceptional host — super responsive, friendly, and thoughtful, making sure we had everything we needed. We truly felt at home here and would definitely love to come back. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a perfect getaway!

Amazing food, kind and helpful owners, comfortable bed, good price Bathroom felt a little dusty, shower pressure not the best and sheets a bit rough. But for the price and for one night it’s the perfect place.

Very calm family-owned hotel: everybody is extremely nice!

The homestay was clean and the rooms were very well maintained. The location was good and the family was lovely. The host was an India tour guide for decades, and had wonderful information for all of our India destinations. The breakfast was generous with delicious chai and aloo paratha.

We loved everything about our stay here! The rooms are big and comfortable, the wifi was great and the location is excellent. The highlight though is the host family - everyone is welcoming and friendly, and will do anything they can to make you feel comfortable. The owner helped us organise everything we wanted to do in Agra, and recommended a few extras as well. We will be back if we’re ever in Agra again - absolutely recommend.

Our stay at shive kothi homestay was fantastic! The rooms were impeccably clean, with comfortable beds and modern decor, and the location was perfect for exploring the city center. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, going above and beyond to answer our questions and provide helpful recommendations. We particularly enjoyed the delicious breakfast buffet with a wide variety of options.
