Springhill Suites by Marriott Alexandria Old Town/Southwest

There was no hair conditioner in the shower even though there appeared to be a slot for one. There also wasn't any lotion. I would have expected that from a Marriott. Low lighting in the bathroom. But the property and room were clean and appeared to be fairly well-maintained.

​Overall, our stay started out well—the staff was polite, and the hotel initially seemed clean and comfortable. However, our experience was completely ruined when we discovered we were bitten by bedbugs during our stay. ​While we appreciated the hotel's amenities and convenient location, a bedbug issue is a serious hygiene and safety concern that cannot be ignored. We hope management takes immediate action to inspect and exterminate the room so future guests don't go through the same experience.

The room was spacious, comfortable, and maintained a high standard of cleanliness throughout my stay. It provided a quiet and relaxing environment that made it easy to unwind after a long day of travel. The bed was particularly cozy, and the layout of the room felt very functional and well-maintained. The primary downside to my stay was the additional fee for parking. I felt that for a property of this caliber, parking should have been included in the room rate, and the extra cost was an unexpected and unwelcome expense.

Would recommend and stay again

Needless to say, no one in our group slept well after we killed the roach. When I contacted management about the issue, they stated that “it’s not a valid reason for a refund.” This shocked us. If this is not a valid reason, I cannot bring myself to imagine what is. I took photos and showed the giant roach to the front desk. They offered to refund our $15.90 parking fee (per vehicle). We thought that was also a little steep to park in a lot with bountiful spaces to park. Don’t be fooled by the nice reviews, because, in my case, they refused 3 times to solve the core issue!
