Ambassade Hotel

Location is central yet not noisy. Staff quite nice. Restaurant is good quality. We booked a triple room with a view. However when we arrived, we were initially taken to a basement room where people were drinking loudly right outside the window. Then we were assigned to a room in the attic. The central AC didn’t work. There’s a portable AC. The room was hot even when the AC was set to 18C. The 3rd bed is under the slopped ceiling. You couldn’t lift your head without bumping into the ceiling. My son had to move the mattress out in order not to knock his head every time he turned.

Our room was beautiful. The staff was helpful. The location was great. They gave us a keychain memento that is cool and unexpected. We weren’t in the room enough to enjoy the canal view which was a little obstructed.

We had a great stay and were very satisfied with the hotel overall. Everything was excellent, especially the location, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The only disappointing experience was with the front door at night. Around 1 a.m., we returned to the hotel and had to wait outside for more than 30 minutes because there was no one at reception to open the door!! We knocked loudly and called the hotel several times, including via WhatsApp, but received no response. In the end, we had to wake up our daughter, who was already inside, and ask her to come down and let us in. I should mention that the manager and morning staff took the matter seriously and said they would follow up on it. Hopefully, this will be resolved for future guests.

We arrived before our room was ready, but they were willing to hold our luggage. The room (#16) was quite spacious and comfortable. Restaurant breakfast buffet was plentiful and the staff was very friendly. We also loved having our bags delivered to and from our room. Location was around shopping and just down the street from the Flower Market. Quite neighborhood in the evenings. There are stairs everywhere - including getting into the lobby from outside. Grateful for the elevator as my aunt has difficulty with stairs. We learned on a canal tour about Dutch Stairs - they are no joke! The shower was difficult to operate - so many knobs - we never did quite figure it out! There was a slight odor to the room when we first got there- we opened the windows to air it out.

While the hotel itself is beautiful and the location is fabulous , it was all the staff who made it all the more special. Special thanks to Matts at the bar who provided dedicated attention and service. Also front of house staff who were wonderful ( sorry I don’t recall his name but young blond man whorling the morning of Aug 2nd ). Exceptional ! Nothing

Lovely arty hotel perfect for a romantic city break in the nicest neighbourhood in Amsterdam.

Nothing Extremely rude staff. My booking said partial view of the canal with ac. They first took me to a non view room and a portable ac room whereby the window had to stay open and then moved me to a smaller room with ac and no view.
