The hotel was in the perfect location for us: walking distance to the main train station, as well as many attractions. Staff were professional and friendly, specifically accommodating our request for a room on a high floor away from the elevator. Given that there was a major heat wave, we loved the excellent AC. The room was quiet, with a comfortable bed. There was great water pressure and hot water in the shower. Free bottled water was a nice plus. This seems to be a European thing, so we didn’t hold it against the hotel, but we are not fans of beds having only a bedspread and fitted sheet. We missed having a top sheet as well.

Great location Balcony is nonfunctional, tiny and neglected. High bed and stairs inside the room were very uncomfortable

The location is great, the room itself was a good size (I had booked a suite with balcony), zero noise coming from adjoining rooms, and the breakfast was great. Decor was nicely done. Staff were professional and polite when coming through the lobby or making enquiries at reception (not always guaranteed in Amsterdam). Elevator requires keycard to get access to upper floors. Bathroom in the suite was very nicely finished and loved the rainfall shower. While the balcony has an amazing view, it’s deceptively small and its actual size is not shown in photos, deliberately no doubt. You cannot sit on it. It’s more of a large windowsill you can stand out on. (Not diminishing the view - that is exceptional) Room keys never seem to stay active. I had to go to reception 4 or 5 times during the stay to reactivate them (and no, I wasn’t doing anything that would cause them to be deactivated). Shower gel was not replenished half the time. Minor things, I admit. The major problem was double bed. It was actually two single beds with a mattress topper over them. If you’re lying in the middle of the bed, the mattresses continually split apart and you end up in an uncomfortable hole which hurts your back and ruins your sleep. I did inform staff of the issue but nothing was done. A twenty euro ratchet strap from a hardware store around both mattresses would have solved the problem. But at the exorbitant price I paid per night, it was certainly not up to me to take time out of my holiday to find a hardware store and fix their problem. I stay in hotels more than my own home. As the bed is a primary purpose of a hotel, this issue ruined my stay at this hotel, which I can admit besides this, could have been an exceptionally pleasant stay. You can save the “we’re sorry to hear this” response as you had the chance to fix it and did nothing. I will not stay here again nor can I recommend staying to others, based on this primary failure, and frankly at the price point I was charged for a suite with balcony, a bad bed is unacceptable.

Overall good. We are impressed of how helpful and friendly of one of the staff at reception desk since we arrived until we left. His name is Rob. He is excellent. He helped me and my husband with every single question and request we asked him. He is doing great. Best receptionist ever!! The breakfast. They are a bit tasteless and and not many choices.
