After a little confusion regarding the accommodation (what does 1 room in a 3 bedroom villa look like) we were delighted to find that this place offers stunning and separate rooms over two levels as part of a large villa-style complex. Each room is entirely separate from the other, self contained and beautifully appointed. The views (over the lake) and the overall architecture are stunning, the owners friendly and excellent staff to make you feel very welcome. Great food too! One of our absolute favourites on our recent Sri Lanka trip.

The bathroom and bedroom are quite open into the nature, which can be resulting in bugs in the room in the night. The facilities were great, but not the cleanest.

v quiet and beautiful location

Gorgeous and modern design, wonderful staff and owners, spacious rooms and thank you for recommending a class guide! The food was also the best I’ve had during my entire trip. Well done! Nothing, really.

This is such a unique place; it's an architecturally beautiful private home with only three bedrooms. We stayed with our adult children in the downstairs bedroom plus the upstairs bedroom at the back of the house. The owners were around and we greatly enjoyed talking to them; they have immaculate taste and are hugely welcoming. The butler (sorry, names escape me) was super helpful and provided 5 star service, plus the best wine of our two week trip. The food was great too. If you're into birds, as my husband is, you will be in absolute heaven - it's like Jurassic Park on the rooftop. A very memorable stay. The only thing I'd improve would be the breakfast french toast - not great.

the location is on the lake there are only three & the rooms have great views large huge showers bathrooms walk ins etc the staff were amazing, and went well beyond what you expect, we also met the owner & can understand why the place is as is, as it was built as his holiday villa, with no expense spared 3 seperate eating areas menu for breakfast & dinner is very flexible & the catered brilliantly to a chilli family allergy strongly recommend

Beautiful spot with lovely staff. Would have liked a kettle in the room.

Hidden gem in Anuradhapura. Would love to come back. The architecture of the place and the rooms are excellent.

Amazing location, very helpful friendly owners who spoke very good English. They both met us at the train station which was a nice touch. And drove us to our next property at a very reasonable rate. Property is beautiful, nice pool to cool off in. Views of the lake and next to a bird sanctuary. We ate a very tasty dinner there and other diners were on another floor so very private. Recommended v good driver and guide. Only 3 rooms so very personal service. We only stayed one night which was a real shame, it deserved longer ! Nothing, hard to fault!

Small property, attention to detail and very personal service. Idyllic setting on the lake, beautiful sunrise and birdsong.

Absolute heaven! So welcoming, stylish, comfortable and brilliant staff! Nothing

Fantastic place in very stylish house. Great staff & owners and great food. The view over the lake is great as well. There isn’t anything else in the immediate vicinity in terms of restaurants etc but the food made in the place is excellent and also reasonably priced WiFi came and went - there were some periods where it was fine and some where it wasn’t working at all. It’s a minor point though

A 3 night stay in January 25. This is a wonderful location with a view from our ground floor room down to the lake. The wildlife on view is exceptional, kingfishers, Brahminy kites, golden orioles and a host of other birds which are a joy to sit and watch. The top floor deck gives fantastic views. There are only 3 rooms in this fabulous architect designed modern building and nothing is too much trouble for the hosts/owners who are exceptional. The food they serve is also excellent, Sri Lankan cooking which is made for you using local ingredients wherever possible. An outstanding place to stay. Nothing.

Huge room, nice views, very nice staff, good food and wine, tranquility No internet (wifi) in our room

This is a very special place and definitely one of the highlights of our time in Sri Lanka. A beautifully designed set of spaces. The house is a reflection of the owner’s family history - definitely take him up on the offer of the tour of the house. The food and service is exceptional.
-
Fantastic small hotel right by the lake. Many species of birds seen from the garden . Staff very attentive for anything required. Owner helped arrange a very good tour of the temples and onward travel . Would recommend. Nothing

Our stay at this hotel was memorable. There are only three bedrooms with bathrooms in this magnificent, thoughtful, architecturally designed building (alla Geoffrey Bawa) which looks out to the lake and across to the World Heritage site. Our spacious room on the ground floor for my husband and I had clean architectural features, with a vast picture window of the lake, plus a patio where we enjoyed superb Sri Lankan coffee delivered each morning faithfully by Shamilla, the host of the hotel. Shamilla is a one man “Oberoi quality” servant of the hotel, who makes such a difference to an already superb hotel that I would rate this the very best hotel in which we stayed during our two week trip through Sri Lanka. (We stayed at a string of glorious, unforgettable hotels - a feast for our journey.) Shamilla introduced us to Sri Lankan food, gave us the brand name of excellent coffee, and was always there to help, including for the arrival of a lost suitcase in the middle of the night from Sri Lankan Airlines (ugh!). There is nothing we can think of that we did not like.

This hotel is the most beautiful hotel I have ever stayed in. Interior design is very stylish and has several personal touches which the lovely owners will walk you through. Everything was very clean and functioning. Food is cooked to your liking and served on time. Throughout the stay the staff is attentive and service is excellent. We like to chitchat a bit, and the staff has perfect English skills. Few rooms available, so it feels like renting an entire luxurious villa for yourself. Even if not planning to go to Anuradhapura, I would go simply to enjoy this hotel. (If you can even call it a hotel. Feels like being invited into a celebrity’s private mansion!). N/A
