The non-smoking room was spacious enough to place my stuff around. The bed was on the larger, but also on the harder side, but i was still able to sleep well. Didn't notice any traces of smoke smell in the whole facility. The room has a large window without a view (2nd floor, back side), which can be tilted but not fully opened. The room and the whole facility were quite clean, without any noticeable flaws. The bathroom is small but does not feel cramped. It was clean and hot water was always available. The check-in was mostly done via self-check-in machine, which can be done in english. The staff did not seem to speak fluent english but had tablets for translation. The included breakfast was decent for a good start into the day. The hotel is close to the train tracks, but neither train nor car noise were an issue (my room was on the far side from said tracks/street). The location is quite convenient, the station (train and bus) is a 3min walk away, a family mart is 2min away and there are multiple restaurants and a small shopping street next to the station. The free Wifi was reliable. The are 2 washing machines and 2 dryers, both were instantly available when i wanted to use them and both looked well maintained. Detergent can be bought from a small machine next to it for 30 JPY. Only 1 elevator which can lead to a 5min wait during busy hours (breakfast on weekend). Stairs are emergency only (though i did not ask if they can be used)

In the hotel room, there were several books including a Buddhist scripture, the Bible and other mindful topics. From those books I could sense good company philosophy. Hotel staff were very hospitable and helpful. I ended up becoming a member of this hotel.

Toyoko Inn is my favorite business hotel chain in Japan. I always know what to expect, from the easy check-in process to the room layout and amenities to the excellent breakfast. Great location close to Atami Station too. There was just one elevator, but not a big deal.

Staff were lovely, rooms were clean, breakfast was great. Close to train station, though a bit far from the beach. We were in a smoking room and the window barely opened making the room a bit stuffy. Not the fault of the hotel, but there was an extra stay surcharge installed by the city of Atami. Not a huge amount, but it caught us off guard as there was no mention of this on Booking.com. A heads up or rolling the fee into the price paid would have been nice. We weren't trying to be difficult about the fee at the front desk, we were just a bit blindsided, as it was unexpected.

Being unable to access my hotel room during cleaning hours from 10am to 3pm. One elevator and no upward stair access means it can take awhile to access your floor.

Nice and clean hotel I got a Perfect service from Mr. Ishikawa. He can speak English very well which help us to understand easily. He has a wonderful service mind and try to help us a lot. Thank you so much.

Close to Atami station. Many car rentals nearby so it's a good spot to pick up your ride to the next place. Disappointed with the service. By far my worst hotel staff experience in Japan. Front counter staff were rather unfriendly. The hotel is old and dated. Check in is 4pm but the check out is limited to 10am. Can't say I was mad about it since I was glad to be out earlier. Overall it's a barebones business hotel so don't expect much.

You know what you will get from this hotel chain, no worries. Breakfast, room, staff and everything is excellent. Few minutes walk from train station, but there's nothing around except a convenience store. A bit quiet and dark.
