Sonesta ES Suites Auburn Hills Detroit

My stay at the Sonesta has traditionally been a pleasant experience. However, my stay in June 2026 was not pleasant. The management left my room door open and closed out the room before I checked out. The room was not clean and the onsite manager that had not been there the 1st couple of days of my stay was only there on the day of my check-out. She was not professional and she made zero effort to reconcile any issues. Since this hotel is privately owned, it is difficult to get any resolution since she continues to lie that she has called my phone to resolve when she has never called my phone directly. I would recommend staying other local hotels with a better experience and more professional staff.

The facility is well designed, but poorly maintained. Our room was a suite, with a very good layout. But from the thick dust on top of our bed edge by the wall, to the sticky floor, to the crumbles and dirt at the perimeter of the floor, where it meets the furniture, to the hair inside every kitchen and bedroom drawer, and floor. Did not having one fork, or one spoon in suit suite, tells me that it’s all about maintenance. And maintenance is about people. I don’t care if cleaners of the room are listening to the non-American music, if the room is properly cleaned, but when you could hear it down the hallway how loud the music is, and these rooms are so dirty. I’m sorry, but I cannot leave another review besides this. We had four ladies, and the hairdryer didn’t work. We went for a wedding, so we wanted to iron our clothes, and the iron had a dark stain on its bottom. I’d say 2.5” diameter. When I brought it to the front floor, they told us that we have to wait. We waited 40 minutes, after which I went to the front and I got an iron and a dryer. But new iron had a good 1.5” size circle of burn. How am I supposed to iron my white shirt, or my silk dress with that? I had to scrub it clean before we used it.

Staff wasn’t that helpful and half the time I couldn’t find anybody. Breakfast was good. Parking was good.

By far the best hotel I've ever stayed at for this price!!! Wish I could find this deal everywhere we go! Great area and excellent amenities

This was a great location and comfortable stay for my employees. The only issue was that the wi-fi and phone connectivity was poor, which was a real challenge trying to get any work done while in their rooms.

Decent hotel. Clean beds. Did not have hot water for morning shower.

We were looking forward to staying at the property because of the amount of space in the units. However, our room had not been cleaned. No kitchen surfaces were wiped, floor was sticky. Stains and hair on the sheets, no mattress pad, and only a bottom sheet on the beds. We asked for a refund and appreciated the accommodating desk clerk who released us from our reservation. Working with the clerk was a very positive experience.

Second time to stay here, much updating & it shows! Breakfast area was clean, bright and well presented; food was good. Room was nice but I think they forgot to vacuum the carpet 🤔 altho not horrible just noticed a few things that we did not bring in. The front doors and check in area look as tho not quite updated yet but exterior landscaping was lovely. Likely will stay again.

Place looks kinda beat up they placed us next to room with 6 kids Yes 6 kids so sleep wasnt an option bed was comfy place is outdated brand new huge baymont being built next door prob be real nice

The staff said they were sorry but they were fully booked so could not change my room, and could not find a cot for us. So nothing was done, and needless to say, we had a terrible night stay.

Our stay was amazing! the rooms are very very clean and the breakfast was delicious. The beds are sooo comfortable as well. We will be back!

Everything was great from starting to cleanliness to rooms definitely great service

Upgraded to a suite and found the room was not even cleaned. Dirty toilet/seat, hair on the sheets and crumbs on the nightstands. Told staff and she cleaned those items but did not change bed. Had a stay for two nights and after night one we just chose to leave early and was not refunded the second night after they said they would. On our way out there was also another guest who complained of a dirty room.

Hotel was very noisey, as people were playing basketball after 11pm Breakfast was burnt. Not a bad place to stay, but whoever owns it, or manages it, either doesn’t care, or can’t get enough employees to work. P.S. The young lady that did work, was friendly and entertaining (worked well within the situation)

The room was clean and very efficient for our needs.

100/10 - I travel a lot and this is one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at. The hotel is quiet, the staff is so friendly and respectful and the facility was spotless.
