Lovely host Rachel is extremely helpful, friendly, warm, welcoming. Nicely designed space. Lots of plants everywhere. Beach towels available upon request. Fresh water (and ice cubes!) available which cuts down on waste. Freshly made breakfast daily to order which is so generous. Comfy bed, clean room. Rachel is always around so if you need help to book a tour, a taxi, or a question she’s more than happy to help! Only consideration would the location is a 10-15 min walk to the center. There are a lot of street dogs in bacalar sadly and 99% are fine, but twice we were barked at / followed by dogs 2 streets over from the property. Not the fault of the property but FYI if you don’t have a vehicle.

The location is excellent. Rachel was extremely nice and helpful, offering awesome tips for Bacalar. The breakfast was really good. We’ve stayed in multiple hotels, but this one had one of the best vibes.

Rachel was lovely very good service ? The secret trick to get warm water is to do only the left and let it pour for some minutes. Don't start with the right. Do the kayaking too.

If you are someone who likes a dark room for sleeping, note that there is a street light right outside that shines into the window, and the blinds don’t completely shut out the light.

Excellent place to stay. The host is incredibly friendly and helpful. The facilities are comfortable and very quiet. Great breakfast on the patio.

We did a 2 week (road)trip in Mexico and this is the only stay I really didnt like. I have been traveling for yeara and I know what to expect for the money I spend. Gran Jaguar hotel is more of an Airbnb, but that would be that bad if the host wouldnt keep coming in the room, when we are not there. There are no blackout curtains, even the curtaina that are there are not closing the entire windows, so we put our own coverage and bind it with a rrally like duct tape (which doesnt leave any stains!). Host saw that, went to our room and ripped it down! I found this to be really impolite. She could have told us, speak to us, asked US to take it down, but you dont go to someone's room and do your own thing. Trash bin were not cleaned every day. They are using some very cheap washing detergent, so that you do smell it and I got an allergy everywhere on the body because of it. The room was minimalist arranged, with rrally cheap beds that had a holes in the matress and people please for the love of God dont say that Wifi is good - 80% we didnt have a wifi at all...we had 3 mobile phones and none one even had it as an option! So , from my viewpoint drfinitely not recommendable.

Excellent big and bright room. The breakfast was delicious and the hospitality was top notch. We felt very welcomed and if we had any questions at all the staff was happy to help us. ? A little far from the lake but definitely walkable

Some friends and I rented three rooms at the Gran Jaguar. We are we're all very happy with our stay. Rachel and her staff are wonderful. Rachel was super helpful and offering recommendations for restaurants and tours. Breakfast was delicious, rooms were very clean, AC worked. I would definitely stay there again. Nothing

Super nice host and staff. Very comfortable stay. The breakfast is delicious. The bikes available for rent are top quality for a great price. The WIFI didn't work well, but the cellular signal is strong.

The staff was delightful and very helpful. The breakfast was simple but the garden was nice Lots of barking dogs and roosters, but you can often find them anywhere on small town Mexican streets

It was super clean. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and patient Everything was great. I highly recommend it to anyone staying in the area looking for a peaceful comfortable stay.

A lot of street dogs running around in Bacalar. But some of them are really cute :)
